Checking trapsFlagging birds to go higher

Cool loft
Above right is a photo for a man standing in the area that controls all the traps (darkest spot in the photo) . The trap area has a door that become shut, as the birds land. A box with peeping holes sets above his head for viewing outsider pigeons that might land along.
Next a man waving a red flag to get the birds to go higher to join other birds at a higher altitude. The picture was taken in the a late afternoon after the bird's release from Bashley's loft in Egypt in my December 1998 trip.
Many lofts are made of lattice wood structure. Less expensive ones are made of palm grids by fitting them forming compartments and crates. The crates are then piled on top of each other forming the bulk of the loft.
