FENDER STRATOCASTER TONE CAPACITORS
BACK TO
HOMEPAGE
This is a Gallery of tone capacitors that Fender used
in their guitars (Stratocasters/Telecasters and others)
during the years, from my research.
The orginial "Cornell-Dubliner" .1 UF/MFD
100-150VDC Paper/Poly Capacitor. P/N ZNW1P1 "Soapbar"  Used from 1954 to about 1960/61 in Stratocasters and 50-60's Telecasters (some are older style and darker brown than shown here). There are some high-end audio places that do make reissues of these capacitors avalible for sale.
The red Sprauge (Erie also?) .1 UF/MFD
50VDC Ceramic Disc Capacitor. These were
used in Stratocasters from 1960 to abot 1966 and had a great darker tone sound.  The yellow insulation was also usually  installed on it to prevent grounding to the pot. Places on Ebay have "NOS" Sprauges for sale but orangedrops (also by formerly Sprauge now SBE) are a modern favorite for these.  10% Tolerance.
