THE BEST PLACE TO BE

Our Instructors

Sensei Larry Grivich, 2nd Dan

Since 1987 Sensei Larry Grivich has been a head instructor and coach of the Judo program at RMC, now called KMC (Kingston Military Community).  He is a Queen’s University graduate in Psychology, a second degree Black Belt in Judo, registered with both Judo Ontario and Judo Canada, and a NCCP level 3 certified coach, with over sixteen (16) years of  Judo coaching/teaching experience.

He has taught many students to black belt level and many have gone on to compete Nationally.

Assistants to Mr. Grivich are Assistant Coach, Mark Timpson and Team Trainer, Jason Timpson. Both qualified instructors themselves.

Sensei Mark Timpson, 1st Dan
Assistant Judo Coach, Mark Timpson, is a former National Competitor, who brings with him a significant amount of technical experience, having trained intensively with the U. S. National Olympic team in Colorado.

Sensei Jay Timpson, 1st Dan
Our Judo Team Trainer, Jason Timpson, is a Registered Nurse and an avid Judo player, who has made a significant contribution in maintaining an overall “safe" but competitive training atmosphere in our state-of-the-art specialized sub-floor training room.

Sensei Pete Goudreau, 1st Dan
Sensei Peter is our most experienced fighter in the club. With over 47 years of Judo and many winning titles under his beltl, he is one to “sweep” you off your feet when he teaches. He was one of the youngest Judoka in Canada to have received his black belt when he was 15 years old.

Sensei Farid Mobasser, 2nd Dan

Sensei Farid fought and won the Iran University Judo Championships before moving to Kingston where he is currently working on his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, at Queen’s University. He is a technical fighter and brings ample of techniques and experience to our classes. Sensei is affiliated with the Queen's Judo Club as an instructor.

Visiting Sensei Shannon Mullins, 1st Dan

Sensei Shannon is a second year Queen's student and Head Instructor of the Queen's Judo Club. She regularly trains with us and is one of the coolest female black belts around. Sensei is a provincial fighter and brings a wealth of competitive  experience to our club. Have we mentioned that she's also cool?
