Neighbor Watch can improve the quality of life in Kings Grant.
You can reduce opportunities for crime by looking out for your
neighbors, and by acting as extra eyes and ears for law enforcement.
There is no way you can make your home 100 percent burglar
proof. However, the emotions, astonishment, indignation,
and anger felt by burglary victims may be avoided by a
number of simple, inexpensive things you can do to minimize
the chances that a burglar will pick your home as a target.
Secure your home with quality locks on doors and windows.
Take your keys - don’t give others a chance to duplicate them.
Don’t let your home look unoccupied; stop newspapers, etc.
Leave a light on when your away, preferably with an automatic timing device.
Don’t let strangers in or let them know when you’ll be away.
Have Security and a trusted neighbor check on your home.
Insure and engrave your possessions and keep an up-to-date inventory of them.
Record serial numbers on theft prone items.
Although the actual crime rate in Kings Grant is very low,
we are vulnerable. Security problems can never be fully
eliminated, but they can be controlled. The success of the
Neighborhood Watch Program depends on all of us doing our
part. We are not vigilantes and cannot assume the role of
law enforcement, but we can all be alert, observant, and
caring. With your persistence and dedication, we can
provide a safer environment in Kings Grant.
