In this class we learned all about the academic library which mean we learned about academia too. It was fun, and very laid back. I think I learned some good stuff in here. (like don't leave a long paper til the last week) Academic Trends Paper - For this we had to read through some issues of the Cronicle of Higher Education and write about some trends we noticed. The paper is pretty cool, check it out some time. We had to do critiques of two articles from literature that applied to academic libraries. They were supposed to be "evaluative" more so than "descriptive." I found some interesting articles, I really like the first one. Critique 1 Critique 2 Term Paper - About halfway through class we had to pick a topic in academic libraries and write a paper about it. I wasn't sure what to do so I said "something with special collections" at first. When I looked around I thought about doing rare book preservation, but the digitization stuff is really interesting (as I found out in Critique 1, sorta) so I did the whole paper on it. Be warned, it's pretty long.
