Membership Petition
Guidelines
This article is a guide to new members and those thinking about petitioning. If
you've got this far, I'm sure you've noticed that 10k is unlike ANY other clan
on the zone.
The council, and all clan members,
have worked very hard to achieve this, so please take a few moments to read
this, and to think about whether 10k is the clan for you.
10k was set up to get away from
the "drama" of the zone, to create a clan for mature ,likeable people
to play AoE and have fun, learn from each other and create a genuine community.
If you are under 18, your membership is less likely. We have found that those
that flood, hack, cheat and indulge in obscene abuse, are mainly the 10-17 year
olds , and so we made a collective decision to exclude that group. If you are 16
or 17, your membership MAY be accepted: generally you will need to satisfy both
these conditions... a) you are a "true " GP and
b) that you have shown yourself to current members of the clan to be mature and
likeable over an extended period of time. If you really want to join 10k, but
are 16-17 and don't know anyone in the clan, our advice is to get to know
people.
All councilors ( listed on the members page ) actively make a point of looking
out for new friends and meeting new people. Everyone in the clan is basically
approachable and likeable, so simply get to know a few of us (preferably
including at least one councilor ), play a few games, and remember: this is not
a fly by night clan. If you see what 10k is about, and want to be part of it, I
can assure you its worth the extra days with your old nick, getting to know us,
or even investing time in that whilst u brush up your RM.
The same holds true of over 18's but to a lesser extent. Over 18 Inters are
allowed to join, though we require that you have a reasonable grasp of AoE: We
are not a rookie clan, and you should be able to bronze well under 15 minutes
with a fast civ on any def res map, revealed or not, with a variety of eco set
ups ( i.e. 16 vill, 21 vill, 24 vill, boats or not etc etc. )and should also
have a working knowledge of booming, good team play and different civs. I would
recommend Orbi Strat Number 1 to anyone struggling to bronze in a reasonable
time.
But the petitions that are easiest to decide, and which we enjoy the most, are
from high inter thru high GP, from over 18's that are well known to current
members, and play RM .
We are an RM clan, and though we have a couple of players still well known for
their excellent DM game, if you are a DM player, or even consider yourself
50/50, this clan is basically not for you.
Assuming your petition is accepted, please re-read the CoC and stick to it. You
represent us now, and we can ( and have ) booted people who forgot that fact.
10k has a hard earned reputation. Please live up to it. Some articles in the CoC
may deserve a little expansion:
Here are some guidelines: Hacks, Macros etc: where confirmed, this is an
instant, no exception life boot. If you are doing this, you are probably the
kind of player that we set up this clan to avoid, so take the hint when we boot
you ....... we have no interest in any self justification for this, if you are
being cheated against, take an SS and leave the room. We will happily post the
nicks of cheaters on the forum for you, and that is adequate revenge. We
consider fastkey, or any app that changes how the game runs, to be a hack.
Game Rules: Respect the hosts rules please, and the agreed game speed. We all
forget a no tool / no siege or whatever from time to time- if u do, apologize
and offer to leave, or at the very least, delete offending units or call off
your attack.
Flooding / Swearing etc: frowned on. But we are all adults here, and if someone
really deserves it, maybe the odd intelligent, well put together curse is
appropriate. Basically, don't flood in the zone, at all, ever, and don't start
or respond at length to any provocation, no matter how nasty it is. Leaving
rooms, even quitting games if u have to and generally turning the other cheek is
the 10k way. Again, these are the people that you joined 10k to avoid, so why
get involved? Ignore/ avoid em. You'll find the 10k nick ,however, is a passport
into games with some of the nicest people on the zone :) If you spot a fake 10k
(listed on site) feel free to harass them, but ensure that it isn't simply a new
member of whom you are not aware.
Smurfing: frowned upon. BUT there are some players in clan who can and do smurf
with permission. This is for a number of reasons, including CoC enforcement (
yup, believe it !), by a small number of councilors and senior members. Unless
you have spoken to Zarmadillo, 10k should be your only current zone nick. Double
clanning ( i.e. being active in 2 clans ) is not allowed, and is a bootable
offence. We can/do/have used IP tracking to make sure we weed this out, on the
FEW occasions it has happened.
Bios etc : Get your details to DawG and W33D as soon as possible after
acceptance to 10k. You should provide him your real name , age, location,
previous clans and email address. There is a service for providing clan addys,
or you can set up an address yourself. By all means set up an " AoE"
address if you dont want to use your own addy for whatever reason.
If you want a logo for your bio / posts, provide DawG with a gif, bmp or jpg.
Please keep them small, if you have the technical knowledge to do so, or if not
talk to him. That's about it....... But whether you join the clan or not, happy
gaming, and We'll see you in the Plains !
