James Marvin Hill was one of eleven children born to Daniel & Eliza (Lawver) Hill on June 14, 1847 in Bethel Township., Monroe County, OH. Although I have found no evidence of a marriage between the two, he sired a son, Nathan James "Nate" Hill, born July 01, 1867 in Crawford County, WI, with a woman named Susan E. Briggs. Susan, according to records, was the illigitimate daughter of a Julia Dean "Judy" Briggs and George Warner (or Mincer?). A few years after the birth of son, Nathan, Susan married a James T. Austin on December 31, 1869. Not a half-year later, on May 6, 1879, Susan (Briggs) Austin remarried to Oscar Columbus Smith. Susan, her second husband, Oscar C. Smith, and son, Nathan James Hill relocated to Iowa, and then to the state of Oregon, where they lived out their lives. Nathan, while still living in Wisconsin, married an Olive Fox and had three children. After their divorce, he married a Julia Nettie Hitchcock in Iowa.
