The Quest For Rock n' Roll

Y'aknow making an album can lead you up a path as rocky as it can be rockin'.
We found that.
Bursting with energy, Swayback was a fresh unit in the Autum of 2004, with a backpack full of songs,
the time was right to 'ava go and walk that path.
The product of our stroll towards Rock n' Roll glory is our debut longplayer
"THE QUEST FOR ROCK N' ROLL".
An apt title.

THE BEGINING OF THE QUEST

Recorded live over a weekend at an abanddoned farmhouse in the Adelaide Hills (Dave Lokan's Big Sound Studios),
"THE QUEST FOR ROCK N' ROLL" sure had humble beginnings,
given a short timeframe, the aim was to put as much down on tape (yes tape) as possible; maximise the fun; maximise the engery.
A pretty simple concept.
After an exausting two days, Swayback emerged from the studio ears ringing, with 17 tracks from which 12 were selected.
From the fresh driving beat of the then 3 week old opener "THE MOVES"
To the rasping stones-esque cry of  "DECIEVE ME".
It was clear every drop of sweat and good times had made it into the recording, just as planned and better than they'd ever hoped.
The quest looked set to be a flyer!

FROM ONE HOUSE TO ANOTHER

With the basics down it was time to start applying the juicy extras that make
production such an art.
But folks................
Things were about to get complicated for Swayback.
Unexpectedly, the farmhouse studio was reclaimed to make way for an orchid!
With the recording on hold for a couple of months, the decision was made to continue.
Out of a makeshift studio in dave's living room (yes dave's family home was invaded by the determind Swayback)
(Very comfy according to swayback)
the magic was on it's way to compeletion.
After much sacrifice from the Lokan family, The living room proved to be a great lil recording studio( albeit a tad too close to Dave's collection of music DVD's)
The process was finally completed in early 2005.
Fate yet again was to delay Swaybacks quest.
A nasty accident with a sharp object befell interpid guitarist Matt Small
(DON'T RUN WITH SCISSORS KIDS!!!)
The ensuing hand surgery putting the release on ice for yet another 6 months.

FILLING THE VOID

Frontman Brenton Manser's solo project "Dirt"
filled the gaping void, but nothing could stop the mighty Swayback juggernaught.
All adversities aside, The product of all Swaybacks toil has been delivered,
Honest, raw, real and exciting.

So now you have it in you hand, why don't you take a step up that path with Swayback
and join them on..............
