We know that it is essential for each child to learn all that is possible in our class this year, and for this to happen, we need an orderly classroom. Please take the time to discuss classroom rules with your child and to encourage good behavior.
Your child will probably come home talking about our class crayon chart. The crayon chart is a behavior-management system designed with a series of consequences to encourage those who do not follow the rules to develop more appropriate school behavior.

The rules are as follows:
*     Use inside/hallway voices
*     Listen and follow directions
*     Raise your hand
*     Keep hands, feet, mouth and
        other objects to yourself.
*     Share

The system works as follows. Everyday, your child will begin with a blue gumball on the chart. During the day, if your child breaks a class rule his/her gumball will be changed. Your child will have a chance to earn the previous colored gumball back before the day ends. Every child's gumball will go back to blue the following day.
The accompanying consequences are:

Blue - Doing an excellent job

Green - Warning

Yellow - Time Out

Orange - Deduction of Playtime

Purple - Silent Lunch

Red - Note/Phone call home
