Kimberly Hart and Tommy Oliver where characters on Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. They were portrayed by Amy Jo Johnson and Jason David Frank respectively.

Kimberly was one of the original Power Ranges along with Jason, Zack, Trini and Billy. She was the Pink Ranger, the one with the silly spandex skirt. Kim was known for being an excellent gymnast. She was popular, energetic, bouncy and loved to shop. You'd think those characteristics would make her entirely hateable, but that was not the case. She was one of the best-loved Rangers.

Tommy first appeared as Rita's evil green ranger. The moment Kim saw Tommy, she fell in love. (We could tell because Power Rangers was never subtle.) Once Rita's spell was broken, Tommy was free to fight for the side of good, and to flirt and make goo-goo eyes at Kim. (It wasn't shown, but their zords actually played footsie.)

Tommy lost his powers shortly after joining the ranger team. It was some silly premise involving a green candle. He stoically turned his power coin (the source of ranger power -- duh) over to Jason, the red ranger, and left the team. But more importantly, Kim got to cheer up broody-powerless Tommy by giving him the chance to finally ask her out and reward him with a big fat smooch!

Later, because whiny kids all over demanded it, Tommy returned. Then he lost his powers again. Yeah, it was kind of silly, but we were all glued to the tv set.

But then he returned again! This time, he was the white ranger, the new leader of the Power Rangers. As the white ranger, Tommy got to spend a lot more time holding hands and playing zordy footsie with Kim. And all was good in ranger land for two seasons.

In the middle of the third season, Kim lost her powers when evil Kat stole her power coin. (Spending so much time with Tommy had clearly rubbed off on her.) In a bizarre twist of events, Kim ended up giving her restored powers to Kat and moving away to pursue competitive gymnastics in Florida (which everyone knows is the gymnastics capital of the world).

A few episodes into the new "Zeo" series, Saban ripped out my heart by ending Tommy and Kim's relationship. We were supposed to believe that Kim sent Tommy a "dear John" letter from Florida. Whatever.

The lovers did get to see each other one more time in the Turbo movie where Kim/Tommy 'shippers everywhere convinced themselves that he still loved her even though he had moved on to a new relationship. Whatever.

Got that?
