The 98-99 season is not a season to remember for the New York Rangers. Not only do they miss the playoffs but Wayne Gretzky is likely to retire after the season. Brian Leetch is still unsigned and losing him to free agency would guarantee the Rangers last place in the Atlantic Division, even behind that other New York team called the Islanders. Taking a quick look around the league... The Flyers will flounder in the playoffs without Lindros unless John Vanbiesbrouck stands on his head like he did just a few years back. The Red Wings are sitting pretty right now with the acquisistion of Wendel Clark and Ulf Samuelsson and are primed for yet another Stanley Cup. Unless those questions about Chris Osgood being a Stanley Cup championship goaltender come up again...
