8. Use of Light Filters

When originally sold the Kiev60 camera set came with 2 light filters that could be screwed into the front part of the lens (thread M62x0.75).

The achromatic light filter UV-lx is used for weakening the effect of ultraviolet rays, for example, when taking pictures under high-mountain conditions, it is also helpful in colour photography.

The light yellow-green filter YG-1.4x improves tone reproduction of multi-colour objects on high-sensitive photographic materials with a slight loss of their sensitivity. Virtually correct tone reproduction of multicolour objects is achieved by the use of the filter on medium sensitivity films.

9. Camera Upkeep

The camera should be handled with care, kept clean, guarded against jolts, strikes, moisture and abrupt temperature fluctuations.

The camera should be kept in a closed carrying case. The lens should be stored with the lens caps ON.

The lens should not be removed from the camera , if it is not necessary , so as to keep dust off the surfaces of the optical parts. If the camera is stored without the lens , the lens mount hole in the camera should be closed with a suitable body cap.

Cleaning of the lens glass surfaces should only be done with a clean soft cotton cloth slightly wetted in rectified spirit or ether.
*Note - Suitable lens cleaning fluids and cloths are available from camera stores worldwide.

When bringing the camera into a warm room on a frosty day do not take it out of the case immediately. It is recommended to let it warm gradually (for two hours) inside the case.

Do not exert excessive force in manipulating the camera.

The shutter curtain is made from a rubberised fabric and can be damaged from bright focused sunlight.
Avoid the sort of situations that this is likely to occur.

*Note - To prevent unnecesary wear to the internal mechanisms it is recomended to store the camera in a NON-COCKED state.
