Known Kiev60 lens faults.
As a rule , the optics used in Kiev lenses and their placement compare
very favourably with lenses of much greater cost.
What normally lets them down is poor quality control during
manufacturing.
Shown below is a closed down iris in a 80mm lense.
ALL sides of the hexagon should be of equal length , but even if you
are blind you can still see here that this one is not.
I believe this is caused by the iris not being centred within the lens.
Later I will open this lens up for further examination and I'll revise
this section , add more pictures and possibly a fix.
While quite undesirable this problem is not as serious at it first
appears.
It may affect sharpness or brightness in various parts of the recorded
image , but I am not sure.
It is always recommended to shoot about 1/2 way on the aperture dial
(f5.6 - f11) as all lenses perform the best in this range.
So spending big money getting this iris issue sorted , may not be worth
it as it only affects the very smallest of aperture ranges which are
not often used.
