| You are welcome to visit unannounced at any time during ceneter hours. You are encouraged to call me at any time before, during or after center hours if I can assist you in any way or to exchange information about your child. Activities Daily lesson plans will be posted on our bulliten board so you will know what your child is doing at any given time during the day. I will also post a list of our weekly themes, menus, scheduled events and birthdays. All children are encouraged to participate in all activities. Activities are designed to teach as well as delight. 1. Small muscle: coloring, puzzles, clay, blocks and small toys. 2. Large muscle: crawling, marching, running, jumping, dancing. 3. Creative play: (stimulate child's imagination and language skills) play areas include puppets, play house, kitchens, doll house, ball games, toss games. 4. Arts and crafts: projects emphasize creative expression completing a task, listening and following direction although I want to emphasize are activities are more about the creative process rather than the finished product. 5. Music: songs, musical instrument play, musical dance. 6. Science: activities encourage investigations, observations, problem solving. 7. Math: counting is a part of daily routine. Numbers are incorporated using calendar, measuring, spatial relationships and sorting items by size are also math related activities. 8. Language arts: stories are read daily and a quiet book corner is available to children throughout the day. 9. Computer skills: most of our children will encouter computers in their chosen professions in the future. The more comfortable our children are with computers the earlier the better off they are. Children will have computer time 2-3 times a week and an opportunity to access (supervised) several sites on the internet including disney.com and jigzone.com where they can put together 6 peice and larger puzzles. These are fun sites which will provide educatinal experiences for the children and at the same time help them become familiar with using a keyboard and mouse. :) Behavior and discipline I believe in positive reinforcement and discipline for children rather than punishment. When children exhibit negative behavior I will: a.) Tell them gently but firmly that their behavior is unacceptable. b.) Redirect them (show them what is acceptable.) c.) Talk in private with the child about their behavior. d.) Take away privilages. e.) As a last resort time out. 1 minute per year of age. This gives the child a chance to cool off and think things over. I do not allow physical punishment or verbally demeaning punishments to be used by any person in our home, this includes parents. Holiday schedule We will be closed on the following holidays: New years day--Thanksgiving day and the friday after--Christmas Eve--Christmas day. Day care rates are not adjusted for these closures. ----Hours and days of operation I am open Monday through Friday, 7a.m. to 5:30p.m. (These are tentative time frames and may be changed due to the needs of the families I will be working with in our community.) Illness I fell I cannot give a sick child the attention they need and deserve, so it is in every ones best interest and if possible, sick children stay home. If you are called because your child is too ill to remain in day care it is expected that you arrive as quickly as possible to get your child, or that another responsible friend or family memeber with your permission pick up you child. When your child is sent home ill you child must remain home for a twenty four hour "get well" period. The following guidelines are used to determine if a child is too ill to remain in day care. Please follow these at home, and if your child demonstrates any of the following keep them home, fever 101 degrees or higher--deep uncontrolled cough--colored discharge from the eyes--unusual rash--vomiting--diarrhea. Infants Babies will be on their own schedule, depending on the infants needs and the parents wishes. Infants are provided with a crib or portable crib for naps. Please bring a light blanket for your baby to use at the center, I will be happy to wash blankets once a week or sooner as needed.
