Bubbles
Not only is it just plain fun to blow bubbles with a large or small group of children and watch them chase them down and pop them...they learn a lot at the same time.  The basic lesson in a game of bubbles as a science activity is that air moves things.  We can't see air or wind but we can see it's effect of the world around us.  So blow some bubbles with your kids, then use your breath to blow them back up into the air.  Try to keep them from hitting the floor or ground, chase them down and pop them with your fingers, toes, elbows, heads or other objects such as straws ect...
Let the kids blow bubbles with you.  Provide enough wands or other instruments for blowing for everyone and use a pie plate with home made bubble solution for all of you to use.  Suggestions for bubble blowing instruments could be toilet paper tubes, straws (make sure children are old enough to understand to blow and not suck through the straw) wands, pipes, bent thin wire in various shapes, cookie cutters...use your imagination and add more objects to your list and you and your kids will have a blast!
There is a good bubble recipe on the
art recipes for fun page.
