Bubbles

1 C. Liguid detergent
1 C. Glycerine
3 C. Water

Bubbles 2

2 C. Joy dishwashing detergent
6 C. water
3/4 C. Karo syrup

Combine and shake.  Let settle 4 hours.  Store covered in refridgerator to extend suds shelf life.  Allow to warm before using.  Be sure to use Joy, other detergents won't work.
Play Dough 1

2 C. Flour
1 C. Salt
2 T. Oil
1 T. Alum
1 C. Hot water with food coloring

Play Dough 2

1 C. cornstarch
2 C. Salt
1 1/2 C. cold water

Mix salt and 2.3 C. water in pan and bring to a boil.  Stir cornstartch and remaing water thoroughly.  Add mixtures together and knead well.  Store in refridgerator.

Play Dough 3

Mix 1 1.2 C. flour with 1/2 C. salt.  Slowly add 1.2 C. water and 1/4 C. vegetable oil and food coloring.  Knead well.  Store in refridgerator in closed container or plastic bag.  Can be baked at 225 degrees for 2 hours.

Play Dough 4

2 C. Flour
1 C. Salt
1 T. Cream of tartar
2 T. Oil
1 C. Water with food coloring added

Mix in pan, heat, stirring constantly until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan and forms a lump.  Knead and store in a plastic bag in the refridgerator.

Play Dough 5

2 C. Cornstarch
1 C. Baking soda
1 C. Water with food coloring

Mix and cook until forms a ball.  Knead as it cools.  Store in plastic bag in the refridgerator.  Will harden and can be painted.



Salt painting

1/8 C. Liquid starch
1/8 C. Water
1/2 C. Salt
1 t. Tempera powdered

Mix stirring constantly.  Children apply to paper plated or cardboard with a brush, will crystalize as it dries.

Squeeze painting

1 1/2 C. Water
1/2 C. Salt
Food coloring
Add
1 1/2 C. flour

Put into squeeze bottles.  Children can squeeze on to cardboard.

Fingerpaint 1

2 C. Flour
2 t. Salt
3 C. cold water

Beat until smooth.  Add 2 C. Hot water.  Beat again until smooth over medium heat.  Stirring constantly until thick.  Divide, add color, cool.

Fingerpaint 2

Add powdered tempera to liquid starch until desired intensity.
Slime
1 C. Cornstarch
1/2 C. Water
Mix on trays for tactile experience-not to try to take home from day care.
Moon craters

1/2 C. Liquid starch
2 C. Rock salt
1.2 C. glue
Food coloring or tempera

Children can pile on card board and sculpture.  Will crystalize and dry hard.

Sawdust cookies

4 C. Sawdust
1 C. Wheat paste
2 1/2 C. Water

Use as playdough.  Will harden and dry.  Color can be added to water or can be painted when dry.
