Today has been a great day in retrospect but it sure didn't feel that way at 1:30 today when the mail man came again with NO package from our adoption agency. Since they made an error and sent our video and photos of Franklin via Priority Mail and not Express mail (which I requested) it seemed certain that the package would arrive today (on day 3). BUT, it didn't and since it is the original DVD of Franklin, if the USPS lost it, we are out of luck. Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow....that would just be so wonderful.
Anyway, the disappointment of this gave way to relief when Jessica called (on her LAST day of work) just before 5pm to report that Franklin's DNA test had been done today. It took me about an hour to fully realize how fantastic this was. This news was far, far, far more significant than receiving updated photos and video! This step means that Franklin is one step closer to becoming our son. It is tempting to think about the possibility that he'll come home much sooner than I thought. I'm not sure if I can go there yet...I don't want to be disappointed. I *think* a realistic timeframe is that our DNA is complete and the embassy issues pre-approval by 1/30/05. Our case would go into PGN several days later and completed in 6 weeks. That would take us to 3/15. Then add one more month to get our pink slip. April 15th would be just awesome. PGN can always take a lot longer but I hear that 6 weeks is average.
Otherwise, all is well here. John and Ian have bad colds (John stayed home from school today) but I think they'll be fine. John and Ian are both practicing Spanish and John is really sounding excited about having another brother. We are just starting to talk about it with him more openly. Good night!
