previous day's entry November 10, 2005 next day's entry
Today has not been great.  It was bad enough that John has come down with the throw up bug and got sick at school (luckily he made it to the nurse before losing his cookies) but I had to cancel Dianne and her kids coming for a sleep-over.  Rick is still in No. Carolina and I think I would have taken all this in stride if I hadn't gotten the news from Jessica that BOTH mailers arrived today...one from the NY Consulate and the other that I mailed on Tuesday.  I had to re-send a document to revise and I apparently screwed it up again.  A different screw up this time and the form is incredibly simple.  Just astonishing.  Because our names and signatures did not fit in the boxes last time on the G-28 (the reason we had to re-do), I decided to type the info.  In doing this, I followed a template that had an additional group of fields completed.  Well, I shouldn't have done that and Jessica also said she didn't want the forms typed!!!  So two strikes.  So, our dossier sits in Pennsylania for 3 more days until Rick is home to sign new forms and I can FedEx them to our agency Saturday a.m. to be delievered Monday.  Ugh.  Just takes the wind out of you.  I know that none of this will matter long-term but at the moment 3 days feels like adding 3 months.  It is also less nauseating when it is someone elses' mistake!  I guess when it is someone else's mistake it makes you mad.  Unfortunately, I'm sure there will be those situations to look forward to!  Hopefully next week will bring better health and news from the Costello household!!!

Things are back under control in the Costello household!!  John recovered from the 24 hour stomach bug, Rick got home safe and sound from NC and our final dossier documents were received and by our agency and our dossier is making it's way to Guatemala.  I'm inquiring about how long the translation and registration takes.  We'll see.  The sooner we are "IN" family court and our DNA test gets requested, the better.

In other news, our agency's affiliate will be traveling to Guatemala on November 27th to see all of the agency's kids...to take photos and video and to deliver a small care package.  We are allowed to send one outfit and one small toy (size of a beannie baby).  It all must fint in a gallon zip lock bag with room to spare.  I have a cute outfit already purchased but I have to think of some cool, small, meaningful toy.  I included a watch with soccer balls with the outfit since I understand Franklin loves soccer.  We should have new photos and some video of Franklin by December 20th.  A nice Christmas gift.

I also have 30 outfits ready to go to Mary (the main agency coordinator) for all the orphanage kids who are not likely to be adopted.  It felt GREAT to pull these all together and it took some time to match up tops, bottoms, socks, shoes/slippers, hats, etc.  Those will go out tomorrow!  Good night :)
