Improve Your Chess!

I specialize in working with beginners and intermediate players who may know basic strategy, tactics, and openings, but need help putting it all together.

How can I help you? There are a few things is particular that I do with students:

• We go over games and try to find common trends or particular areas of need.
• We analyze particular positions, and I try to guide you to use more efficient and effective methods of analysis.
• If there are particular strategies or tactics you do not understand, I can explain them using particular examples.
• We work on thinking process, or how one decides on a move (putting all of the knowledge together). I use positions from your games and walk you through how you might pick a good move in that position.

As you can see, it is an "active" relationship in which you are engaged and helping to find the solutions to your problems, much like in a game of chess.

I teach on the Internet Chess Club and the Free Internet Chess Server. These are great places to play as well if you have not tried them.

Fees

Lessons are $20 per hour (one lesson is usually one hour). However, I like to meet with you first and give a free mini-lesson. That way, you can get an idea of whether or not I can help you improve your chess.
