For those not in the know, Silversun are exhilarating purveyors of fuzzpop-fettered melodic rock music. Having just released their latest album, 'Disappear Here,' some six years on from their last release, band frontman James Broad and friends are most certainly back with a bang... especially given the calculated coolness of their latest single, 'Immediate.'
1. HI JAMES, HOW'S IT GOING?
It goes right, it goes wrong....forgeddaboutit .
2. SO, WHAT'S ALL THIS ABOUT YOU 'INJURING YOURSELF' WHILST SHOOTING THE HIGH-OCTANE PROMO VID FOR LATEST SINGLE RELEASE 'IMMEDIATE'?!
Parts of me that were never designed for close proximity congress were introduced.
3. WAS THE PAIN THAT TRANSPIRED FROM THE 'ACCIDENT' JUST AS 'IMMEDIATE' AS THE MELODIC-DRENCHED POP-ROCK NATURE OF YOUR MUSIC?
That's pleasure, not pain!
4. HAVE YOU BEEN PLEASED BY THE FEEDBACK TO YOUR LATEST MATERIAL?
Yes. But at the end of the day I can't do much about it if they don't like it. It's too late to change now.
5. WHAT HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN UPTO SINCE YOUR LAST ALBUM RELEASE, SOME SIX YEARS AGO?
Gardening at night. Flying balsa wood helicopters. Driving vintage steam buggies. Holding bring and buy sales. The usual shit.
6. DO YOU FIND IT ANY EASIER TO WRITE SONGS THESE DAYS COMPARED TO IN THE EARLY DAYS OF THE BAND?
Nope. You just have to sit down with a guitar and something will happen at some point. The only difference is that I wasn't married in the early days and wives can get in the way sometimes with their silly distractions.
7. DO YOU HAVE ANY PERSONAL FAVOURITE SONGS FROM YOUR NEW 'DISAPPEAR HERE' ALBUM?
I like them all as much as each other.
8. DO YOU ALWAYS GET EXCITED ABOUT GOING ON TOUR TO PROMOTE YOUR ALBUMS?
Not really. I like the cameraderie but not the logistics and I like the audience but not the terror of going on stage.
9. GIVEN THAT YOU GUYS HAVE SEEMINGLY BEEN OUT OF OF THE SPOTLIGHT FOR AGES, DO YOU FIND IT HARD TO PROMOTE YOUR WORK WHEN YOU DO REAPPEAR OUT OF 'HIBERNATION'?
No more difficult than I ever did.
10. HOW MANY SONGS WERE WRITTEN WITH THE ALBUM IN MIND, AND HOW ON EARTH DID YOU WHITTLE YOUR PROSPECTIVE ALBUM-SONGS DOWN TO THE FINAL TEN?
Many songs are in the vault. I just picked the 10 I thought I could do the most justice to at the time.
11. FINALLY, WHAT IS THE BEST THING OF ALL ABOUT BEING IN SILVERSUN?
The free hats.
