KIBERA-ONE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME(KOCA)is a dully registered CBO and is working in a strong partnership with other operators on the ground to bring the much needed services to the Kibera community.As a first step to this process,under KOCA'S umbrella, Amazing Discoversies Educational Centre(ADEC) was founded in mid 2004. The focus has been on the Girl-child and the Physically abused children making our target group to be the school going age groups but those who never got the opportunity to proceed for various reasons. Orphans took the centre stage especially the HIV/AIDS survivors.
Henceforth, we have initiated a community based school(ADEC) in response to the government’s efforts to make education universally accessible. The school has enrolled Secondary school students with overwhelming success.
We currently have 98 students that is, 36 in Form1, 33 in Form2 and29 in Form3.
Currently, plans are underway to expand premises and enrol form IV students. |
