French Polynesia
12 days in paradise!!!
We decided to go to French Polynesia and booked a custom trip through Island in the Sun Tours, which is a great company. Our first stop was Moorea, which is Tahiti's sister island. It is absolutely amazing!!! The flight was long, but once we got to our resort it was well worth it. We got to our overwater bungalow and unpacked and relaxed for a bit. The water is so clear you can see every little detail of the coral and fish. We snorkeled, swam with the sharks and stingrays, had lunch on a motu, rented a buggy to get around the island and I even got to buy Tahitian black pearl earrings and a necklace.
The next island we stayed on was Bora Bora and after they got the rooms figured out we relaxed and walked on the beach. We snorkeled, went sea kayaking, saw the WWII guns, and had a 6 hour catamaran cruise, and ate at some wonderful local resturaunts. The trip to the main part of the island was a pain. If we go again we will probably skip Bora Bora.
The last and best island was Rangiroa, we stayed at the Kia Ora Sauvage, which is the more private part of the Kia Ora Village. Rangiroa is actually an atoll (one of the largest in the world) with the interior lagoon being 41 miles across. We took a boat from the village to the 9 acre island we had to ourselves. There are 5 bungalows and we were the only people there besides the host, his wife and two staff. The island has no electricity, but does however have hot/ cold running water. We had our own deserted island with three full meals a day, which we were called to by a conch shell. Everything about that isalnd was absoulutely amazing! This would be a place I would love to go back to.
