A Death in Love

I saw you once before that day,
but I never knew your name.
And I had laughed before that day,
but my laugh was not the same.
The silent tears were tears of joy,
For you had brought me life
And with your kissed conquered death,
And pain and hopeless strife.
But when that day turned into night,
The darkness found me still
And I knew that they were right
When they said that love could kill.
