| Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes is often called the First Painter of the Spanish Mind. Many of his portraits feature carefully groomed Poodles, which are sometimes known in Spain as Perros de Lana--literally, Dogs of Wool. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
