| The first Harmonica I ever played was an old, beat up, 14 hole Marine Band that was given to me by the Old lady who lived next door. She told me that it had been her Late husbands and I might have some fun with it. I was 14yrs old. I "tooted" on that thing for a few days before it occured to me that I was putting my mouth on a DEAD MANS HARP ! ....which probably had not been cleaned...Oh Well..! I learned the basics fairly quickly and soon I was playing Twinkle-Twinkle with the best of them. I saved enough money to buy a Blues Harp and a Mel Bay Book..and continued to move on. I credit Baybo Poppell for showing me how to "Bend"notes, and leading me to the next plane of my harmonica journey..... |

| I've probably gone through about 1,000 harps over the years. For the past couple of years though, I've been just changing out reedplates. Its less expensive and convenient. My main harps are Hohners.. either the Pro-Harp or the Special 20.They hold up well, and they look cool !...The Meisterklasse is one of my favorites. The tone is rich and the feel is smooth. It can handle Overblow very well. I'm definitely A Hohner kinda guy |
