I had this problem with some of my budgerigars that they plucked
all the feather of their young ones in the nest box, but I just made a slight
change in their diet and this problem was gone. But the pairs who are in real
habit of this, give me real trouble. The babies who are victims of feather
plucking often pluck feathers of their own young ones too so I usually take the
babies out for hand feed or transfer them to foster parents. Don't forget to put a cuttle
fish bone in the cage, even if you don't put it in the nest box itself.

If you find that a pair is uncomfortable with something in the
cage and it is a hindrance to its breeding remove it instantly. Like one
cockatiels pair of mine never liked to go into the box from the hole but when I
removed the top cover of the box, the hen and cock found their way in and now
they are breeding fine. So its just about your own observation and judgment.

Birds do not like to get disturbed during their breeding season
so do try to avoid visitors in the breeding area unless its too important.
Because sometimes, a bird is mating and some unexpected visitors will frighten
them and may be they will loose the first clutch or any thing like that could
happen.

 |
Do give your birds a break in the summer or non-breeding season.
If proper climatic conditions are provided, the parrots may breed endlessly but
I think that it will really exhaust them which results in weak offsprings, or
unfertilized eggs or egg binding. So they must have some vacation in the year.

Bird's good health is very important to
get healthy breed from them. Never compromise on health of bird and take care of
them as much as you can.
|
 |
Take good care of cleanliness in your
aviary. Spray your cages and perches with disinfectants frequently.
|
 |
Keep the water dishes clean. I wash
them every morning and give my birds fresh water everyday no matter what
happens.
|
 |
Never introduce a new bird in your
aviary especially in breeding season.
