We have coined the term Supporgent for Supported reagent. Due to the greatly felt need of minimizing or eliminating the use of volatile solvents, hazardous chemicals like AlCl₃, preventing the discharge of stoichiometric reagents like CrO₃ into effluent water, research activity in the area of Supporgents increased immencely over the last few years.

We successfully developed the methodology of co-grinding the active reagent with the inorganic support like Silica gel. We have showed that the dispersion of the active reagent on the silica surface was uniform. We reported efficient preparation and applications of reagent/catalyst systems like SiO₂-CrO_3, SiO₂-FeCl_3,SiO₂-ZnCl_2,SiO₂-MnO₂ for oxidation, lewis acid catalysed alkylations/acylations, etc. We have developed the recovery and utility of the spent reagents.
