Pluto
The planet Pluto was discovered in 1930. It is smaller than our Moon and can be only seen through large telescopes. It is probably a ball of ice and rock. The Sun is so far away that it appears as little more than a bright star in Pluto's sky.

The planet is bitterly cold and probably has no atmosphere. Pluto may once have been a moon of Neptune, which escaped to become a planet in its own right.

As it orbits the Sun, Pluto is circled by its own moon, called Charon. Pluto's diameter is 2280km. Charon's diameter is 1182km. Pluto rotate 6 hours 9 minutes 12 seconds and orbit at 247.69years with speed at 4.7km per second. Pluto's gravity is 6% of Earth's gravity.
