| Jupiter is the largest planet in the Solar System. It is 11 times the size of the Earth, and contains 318 times as much material. Most of the planet is made of the gas hydrogen in liquid form. A great red spot on the surface of Jupiter can be seen from Earth. This is thought to be a gigantic, whirling storm. Jupiter measures near 88,700 miles (141,920 km) around its equator. Jupiter's axis almost vertical. It tilts only 3 degree. The Great Red Spot is 13,440km wide by 38,400km long. Jupiter rotates itself 9 hour 55 minutes 4 second and orbit the Sun 11.86 years with speed at 131km per second. Its gravity forces is 2.54 times Earth's gravity. |
