| Asteriods | ||||||||||||||
| Some of the rocks in the Solar System are like mini-planets. They are called asteriods. Asteriods are irregular lumps of rock which orbit the Sun. Most are found in a dense ring lying between Mars and Jupiter. This is called the Asteriod Belt. Some asteriods have orbits which pass out of this belt. Their orbits from long looping marathons across the Solar System. Some asteriods pass close to Earth as they orbit the Sun. Others pass by the outer planets. |
