An intentional community of ethnic, racial, gender, age, sexual orientation, and economic diversity seeking to use fewer resources through reducing ecological footprints. Our building maintains lower cost housing as an alternative to the condominiums around us. This also reduces our �sociological footprint� as we work to improve the environment of our neighborhood and the community at large. |

What is the living space like? |

We live at the KEUC, located on the top two floors of a mixed use not-for-profit only building located on the corner of Lawrence and Sheridan. Each member has their own personal space of varying size. We share dormitory style toilets, bathrooms, kitchens, and lounges. A common meal is offered each noon and evening, with members coming and going as they need. The meals are often a time of intense conversations! View pictures |

What is an intentional community? |

A group of individuals that make an intentional choice to live together, share some resources, support each other, dialog together, and in general BE a community. In most intentional communities there are some shared values, and shared responsibilities. In our case we value the diversity and affordability of our neighborhood, and seek to add to this diversity through our membership. We also share an interest in looking for ways to reduce our use of resources, and adopt good environmental practices. Together we will act as a test bed for the ecological practice experiments of the Keystone Ecological Urban Center. Members are encouraged to attend community meetings (about every three weeks) and join one of the committees that keeps us functioning. |
