| AUTHOR'S NOTES | ||||||||||||
| I was always fascinated by the way a professional writer came up with their ideas for stories. As I have stated before, everything in this story fell right into place when I was writing it. Here are my notes for my fanfic. Hopefully, you can see how I came up with this story. In Part 1 -- PROP SCRIPT: Sam's prop script was just meant to be a joke, but it ends up being a key element later in the story. In Part 2 -- JOSH'S PRACTICAL JOKES: I needed something to string the entire story together, and Josh's practical jokes fit in well, especially in the story's climax. In Part 3 -- JAMES' BREAKFAST: I have no idea what James eats for breakfast. Host_Eve said he probably just picks up something on the set, so I just went with what I originally wrote for the scene. In Part 4 -- MIRROR IN THE WAITING ROOM: This was shown in the episode where Sam leaps into a younger version of Al. Throughout the series, there was no mention of a shower or a rest room near the Waiting Room, so I added them here. In Part 5 -- "INEFFABLE": Taken from Christina Applegate's movie "Streets", this word means "something that cannot be described". In Part 5 -- "QUANTUM PSYCISIST ... DREW BARRYMORE": This scene was to show that a few of the cast did sense something odd about James. I did not know where to take their suspicions though. James attended Drew University, and Drew Barrymore did film Firestarter in Wilmington. This fit perfectly in the scene. In Part 6 -- MOUSE IN THE BOX: Here is a vital key to the story. The climax fit right into place when I thought of it. The "mouse in the box" idea came from watching blooper shows where baseball players did the same thing to their teammates. In Part 7 -- "TOOK A HAPPINESS PILL": One of several quotes I used from "Dawson's Creek". In Part 7 -- "JUST JOSH BEING JOSH": Sam mimics Al's line "Just Gooshie being Gooshie" a few moments before. Originally, I was going to have Sam leap-in on this scene and have Sam kiss Rachael but I decided not to use that here. In Part 8 -- EPISODE'S TEASER: Am I the only one that noticed that Joey did not leave through the window in the teaser the way she always does? In Part 10 -- S.N.L.: James Van Der Beek hosted Saturday Night Live in mid-January '99. In Part 10 -- PACKERS JACKETS: Dressing alike was taken from an article where Kerr Smith says he and his girlfriend dress alike (no, not like THAT). In Part 11 -- JELLY BELLIES: Katie's favorite snack, added here only to convey that. In Part 12 -- "SEDUCE THE POPE...": This is my favorite sentence in the entire story. I just loved Abby! Too bad Monica Keena decided to leave the show. In Part 12 -- "SNOW WHITE...": This scene introduces Monica Keena and also sets up the mystery of why Sam does not leap once he has finished filming. The "Snow White" reference was taken from Sigourney Weaver's movie "Aliens". By coincidence, Sigourney and Monica both appeared in a movie called "Snow White: A Tale of Terror". In Part 13 -- "CAPTAIN SKIPPY": This was Pacey's name for a dog puppet he used in the episode in which everyone has their fortunes told. Joshua likes to moon the female cast members, and naming his butt Captain Skippy just seemed appropriate. I was very hesitant to include this scene, but on the advice of a reader with an objective point of view (she said it brought comedy to the sample pages I had her read), I put it back into the story. In Part 14 -- THE DELUXE: James and Josh were roommates in an apartment above "The Deluxe" during the first season. In Part 15 -- DREAM OF ABBY: My favorite scene! Abby and Devon quote from different DC episodes: "Woo the wonder boy" and "other talents besides filmmaking" were quotes from one episode, and "mundane for someone..." and "thought it was video night" were from Rachael's episode. In Part 16 -- "JABBA...": Kerr quotes from the missing scene in the original Star Wars movie. In Part 17 -- "YOU'RE HER HERO": Originally, I did not realize Josh was missing for an hour after lunch. With an idea of how the rest of the story was going to go, it fit to have Josh say, "I am everybody's hero". I wrote this entire scene AFTER writing the story's climax. And yeah, I know Sam used C.P.R. to save someone's life before, but that's okay. In Part 19 -- BUFFY McCONNELL & ALI ROSS: An article in the STAR revealed Josh Jackson had saved these two young ladies off the Macenboro Inlet. This article first appeared when I was only a few pages away from writing the climax to the story. Perfect timing! In Part 20 -- STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN: Write about something you know. What else do I know all about other than wrestling? THANKS FOR READING! MY E-MAIL ADDRESS IS ON THE HOMEPAGE! |
