QUANTUM CREEK --  Part Nine

On the screen, the end of Josh's line could be heard, "Don't you think that telling your life story in your own bedroom is a little perverse, even for you?"
Onscreen, James gave Joshua the same half-smirk that Sam just gave Al in response.
When Sam spotted the similarity, he laughed out loud.
Turning to the director, Kevin William said, "I think we'll omit the rest of the scene as scripted."  He turned to Sam and asked, "Was it really that funny, James?"
"No, Kevin," Sam replied.  "It just struck me as funny."
Al said, "James gave Josh the same smirk you just gave me."
     Sam nodded slightly.
"And that's what you laughed at," Al concluded.
     Sam nodded again.

The next scene up was scene one in which Joey is in art class and Dawson enters to give her a new copy of his script.
"Ah, man!  It's dark in here," Joshua said as he opened the door to the theater.  With him was Michelle Williams.
On the screen, James said his line.  "I wanted to give you my new revised draft hot off the presses."
"Thanks, but I'm in class," Katie replied as her character.
James' character sees that the drawing Katie's character is making is of a nude model, later revealed in the episode to be Rachael's character.
James said his line in a totally shocked way, "She's...  she's naked!"
By the door, Joshua shouted, "That's not naked!  I'll show you naked!"  Josh then proceeded to strip down to his underwear before Mchelle could contain her laughter enough to stop him and redress him.

Once Josh was dressed again, David Semel said, "Today's dailies are over.  We're a bit behind schedule now.  Let's get back to work.  There's good news at least:  No reshoots needed for today!"
Joshua clapped and replied, "All right then."  He and Michelle waved and went back to the set.  Sam stood up and stretched.
"Ah, James, as you know, you're not in the next scene," the director said.  "We're going to the Icehouse set to film scene A-ten."
"Fine," Sam said.  "I'll be in my trailer until my next scene.

Sam once again returned to James' trailer.  The co-writer of the episode, Darin Goldberg, stopped by and hand-delivered a new scene to Sam.
Darin entered James' trailer and sat down.
"I just finished typing up this scene for you and Rachael.  David said he needs both of you inside the school in fifteen minutes.  He wants to shoot the scene today since it will probably be a long shoot tomorrow."
"Okay, thanks," Sam said as he skimmed through the new pages.
"I'll let myself out, James.  I know you need to memorize your new lines," Darin said as he left.
Sam memorized his lines and exited the trailer.  He wanted to talk to Rachael about the new scene, but Al showed up.
"Hey, Sammy," Al said, surprisingly in a good mood.
"Let me guess," Sam said.  "You found out how to save Rachael."
"Not exactly," Al replied.  "Ziggy says Rachael has a zero percent chance of having any kind of accident today or tomorrow, so I guess you're off the hook."
"Really?  Tomorrow is the last day of shooting for this episode for James.  Are you sure about Ziggy's predition?"
"Absolutely positively definitely sure," Al said.
"Good," Sam said with a sigh of relief.  "Now maybe I can concentrate on the new scene I'm supposed to shoot in a few minutes.  Aren't you coming along?"
Al's face lit up and he replied, "You don't have to ask twice."
"Just watch what you say around Rachael," Sam said.
"What?  She can't hear me.  I'm a hologram," Al said in his own defense.
"You know what I mean," Sam replied.
"You sure are grumpy on this leap, Sam," Al said as he followed Sam to the set, which Sam replied with another half-smirk.
