Rachael in "His Leading Lady"
Hologram Al
QUANTUM CREEK --  Part Two

"Okay," Sam said to his holographic friend as he entered the trailer.  When Al reappeared in front of him inside, Sam asked, "So what was the line I was supposed to say back there?"
"Oh," a voice from someone that was already inside the trailer replied.  "Are we hitting on the young lady already?"
Al quickly read off the hand-link.  "This is Joshua Jackson, your cast-mate on the show.  He portrays a character named Pacey Witter.  His nickname is 'Jackson'."
"You didn't answer my question," Joshua continued.  "Did you hit on Rachael yet?"
"Ah, no," Sam said honestly.  "I wasn't given the opportunity."
"I see," Josh replied, smiling.  Josh then tossed over to Sam the episode's script and said, "You must be looking for this then."
Sam caught the script and said, "Thanks, Jackson."
"You know, I didn't think it would take all this time just to film scene nine.  It doesn't seem all that difficult to me.  Not a hard read at all."
Scene nine, thanks, Sam thought as he quickly found and memorized the scene, including the line he was supposed to say a few minutes ago when he was on the set with Rachael.
"Okay, Josh.  Thank you," Sam said as he was about to leave.
"Don't mention it, and don't forget to come back here after you're done and we'll talk about what kind of practical joke we can play on Rachael tomorrow, okay?"
Practical joke?  Joshua and James must be collaborating something to pull on Rachael Leigh Cook.  That is why Joshua was in here in the first place.
"Okay, buddy.  See you in a few," Sam said as he headed for the trailer door.
Josh turned away from Sam and turned on the television that was at the front of the trailer.
Before Sam could leave, Al said, "Hey, check this out."
Going over to where Al was, Sam then looked at his reflection in the mirror.
"Ain't that a kicker?  If I didn't know better, I could swear you leaped back into yourself, when yoiu were in your late teens, Sam."
"Wow," Sam quietly uttered, noticing the resemblance in the mirror and nodded.

As Sam exited the trailer, Al reappeared in front of him and said, "Gooshie and I will run some programs through Ziggy and find out what needs to be put right on this leap."
Sam nodded as Al opened the Imaging Chamber door and disappeared.
"Hey there," Rachael said as Sam was returning to the set.
"Hi," Sam said, surprised that she was not already on the set waiting.
"I wanted to talk to you about that prank that Josh pulled on me today," Rachael said, handing Sam the soda he had asked for a few minutes ago.  "Don't worry, I didn't shake it up, although I should have," Rachael said with a half-smile.
Cautiously, Sam opened the can, but only got a small "pssst".
"Thank you.  I'm glad you didn't," Sam replied before taking a sip.  Sam noticed the director was waving them back to the set.
"Hey, maybe this can wait, James," Rachael said.  "David wants us back on the set."

Luckily for Sam, there was only one line he had to say to finish the scene.  Unfortunately, the end of the scene did not feel right to the director and it took almost an hour to complete the scene before the director was finally satisfied.
"How about if I just let out a laugh of unexpected enthusiasm to finish the scene?" Sam finally suggested.
Director David Semel agreed.  "Let's try that.  We'll pick it up from Rachael's 'you'll see' line."  Going behind the cameras once again, the director called, "Action!"
Rachael said her line.  "If you look closely, Wade, you'll see...  it's just me.  Is that kind of what you had in mind?"
"That was kind of...  perfect," Sam said and added a quick laugh, remembering to hold the smile on his face.
The director looked skeptical.  "Okay, cut."
     Rachael asked, "How was that?"
"I don't know," David said.  "Maybe it'll look good in the dailies tomorrow.  Well, it's getting really late."
Sam was beginning to like acting here with Rachael.  This Van Der Beek must be a natural, Sam thought.
"Okay, ahhh..." the director thought out loud.  "I guess that's it for tonight, everybody.  Thank you all for a job well done.  See you all in the morning."
Sam turned to Rachael and said, "Maybe we can talk in the morning, all right?"
"Sure," Rachael said.  "I am a bit tired anyway, and it's a long shoot tomorrow."
Returning to the trailer after saying goodnight, Sam almost forgot that his co-star Joshua Jackson was waiting for him.
As Sam opened the trailer door, all he could hear was the loud snores that Joshua made, obviously fast asleep inside the trailer.
"Sounds like my third wife," Al said as he appeared inside the trailer next to Josh.  "Or was that my fourth wife?  Want me to wake him up?"
"You can't wait him up," Sam said.  "You're a hologram, remember?"
"Just kidding, Sam.  Gooshie and I know what you need to do here, sort of."
"'Sort of'?  What does that mean?"
