The day was a cold day, not much difference in any normal cold day. Just this day came a little later this year. But the old man looks at the woman from the street with a look that leaves the question plain as the age on his face, "Why are you here picking on an old tired man?"
"Looks like that only leave you with no answers. How about you ask me what you want to know?"
"You know who I am?" she nods, "So you also know what you said to me and what has happened today?"
She laughs, "You must know that it has been more than a day since..."
"I know I have met you..."
"Tsk... How about you do not interrupt me, and then we will be able to work through this stuff a little quicker?" He stills his words. "Thank you. Well it has been a few days since we have met in the street. I hope you have had time to understand what I have said to you."
"How? What may seem like days to you has appeared as a moment to me. So I am left to wonder..." before he finishes his sentence he remembers a dream, not really a dream though. More like that of a thought from his meditations. And he realizes that this was a meditation during what he thought was just a moment.
"Perhaps you need a moment to think?"
"It is not necessary."
Knowing that the old man will make his own decisions, she leaves the room to make her own preparations for her own trip. Following her only past the door, while she turns down the hallway one way, he returns to the front of the inn yelling upon arrival like nothing out of the ordinary happened to him, "Keep a drink if you would?"
"Not everyday the fair falls into the arms of the gruff eh?"
Turning to the keep, "There are some we wish wouldn't."
"Perhaps. But if you want this ale, you'll answer me this question, 'Do you want this drink?'"
"Perhaps you should let me have my drink, for an old man can go only so long without wetting his lips." With that the two men exchanged more than a question about a drink, they had a conversation about more than drinking for the first time in days, but the last for just wetting his lips for a while. A long while.
