PARABLES OF THE TALENTS AND
THE POUNDS
Summary: cont.
ADAM AND EVE
The
story of Adam and Eve
is another good illustration
of this.
Adam represents the head, our spirit,
and our mind.
Eve represents the body, our soul,
and our emotions.
God told Adam,
not to eat of the fruit from the tree
of knowledge of Good and Evil.
God did not tell Eve,
for she was not yet created when God told
Adam.
Adam told Eve, for Eve knew about it.
Adam telling Eve is a picture of God speaking
to our soul (Eve),
through our spirit (Adam), as in
the case of Israel and Jacob.
God speaks through our mind,
our spirit, that is quickened and alive
to God,
and wants our soul to listen,
and be in subjection to our mind,
and both to the Word of God.
When Satan
through the serpent tempted Eve,
Adam was also there;
for she gave the fruit to Adam, and he
ate of it too.
Adam who represents our spirit (mind),
did not say anything during the temptation,
because Adam was weak in the commandment
of God.
If Adam was strong in the Word of God,
he would have stepped in and quoted God's
warning,
and Eve listening to Adam would not have
sinned.
Both would be in subjection;
and obedient to God's Word.
We are tempted and give in to it,
because we are weak,
that is, our mind is weak in the Word
of God.
Thus the temptation reaches our soul (as
it reached Eve),
and now our mind is listening to our soul's
desire,
as Adam listened to Eve and sin was committed.
This is the reason the
Apostle Paul says
that a woman should be in silence.
Adam knew, but Eve did according to her
feeling,
as she was deceived
(1Tim. 2:11-14).
We should not go by our feelings (our
soul, Eve),
but according to our mind (our spirit,
Adam),
filled with the Word of God.
Our mind must be strong
in the Word of God,
that our soul's desires do not arise in
our hearts,
and do not dominate our mind.
This is the conflict which Gal.
5:16-18 speaks of.
This conflict happens
when we walk by the principle of the law,
that is, what we must do.
The more we try, the harder it gets.
We must enter into His Rest,
by knowing that it is all done.
We are in His Rest;
and know that God does not require anything
of us,
but to believe and trust in His Word.
The basic
problem arises,
first thing in our awakening moment.
Those who are walking by their feelings,
and having difficulty walking by faith,
are usually not spending time,
and having fellowship with God,
and His Word, with Christ first.
First thing they do is watch television,
or read the morning paper,
and feeding on the Word of God is neglected.
Other things always
seem to interrupt this time with the Lord,
and we justify ourselves as being too
busy.
We may start spending time with the Lord,
but these precious moments soon diminish.
The reason for this is,
we put ourselves under the law of works,
and spending time in the Word becomes
a burden,
and not a joy.
We may even make a vow that we will do
it,
and soon it is interrupted by the cares
of this world.
Making a vow comes from the soul,
for it is a response to what I must
do.
It is
so needful to spend time alone with Him,
in reading and in meditation,
that His Word grows and grows in your
mind,
and in your heart.
Christ, the
Word of God,
and you becomes one in thoughts and in
spirit.
To spend in prayer and commune with
God through His Spirit,
should be a time of joy and refreshing
of your spirit.
This is not a time
you spend, when you have the time.
It is of absolute NECESSITY, as even Christ
the Son of God,
spent time alone with His Father.
Having this fellowship with Christ,
and with God our Father, through the Holy
Spirit,
will make one realize what it means to
have entered into His Rest,
and know that it is all done.
To thank Him and praise Him always,
for the Great Salvation He has given us.
To have the knowledge of His Grace,
and to love Jesus Christ our Lord.
The Apostle
Paul
said to the church at Corinth,
that a woman should not teach nor speak
in the church.
This is a literal instruction,
but there is also a spiritual lesson here.
The woman represents the church,
the body, the soul, and the bride of Christ,
and the man represents the head
who is Christ
(1Cor. 11:3).
The woman being in silence, and obedient
to the man,
is a picture of the church being in subjection
to Christ,
who is the head of the church.
The soul should be in subjection to the
mind,
and we walk by faith and not by feelings.
The many denominations and variety of doctrine,
crept into the Christian churches,
reveal the church is not silent,
and totally obedient to the head,
to Christ, to the Word of God.
Paul also tells Timothy
(1Tim.
2:11-15)
not as a church but as an individual,
a woman should not teach,
nor usurp authority over a man but should
be in silence.
Paul gives the analogy of Adam and Eve.
An analogy is presented,
to teach us a spiritual lesson.
We should not listen to our soul (Eve),
and be led by our feelings, but by our
spirit (Adam).
The woman represents our soul,
and as Paul forbids the woman from teaching,
or usurping authority over the man,
so our soul should not dominate our mind,
that we do not walk by how we feel.
1Tim. 2:14
says:
" Adam was not
deceived,
but the woman
being deceived,
was in the transgression."
Our mind (our spirit, Adam)
is not deceived,
for we KNOW what things are not pleasing
to God,
according to the Word of God, but our
mind (spirit, Adam),
gave in to our soul's (Eve) desire.
Now our mind (Adam),
is listening to our soul (Eve),
and we give in to the desires of the soul.
The Apostle
Paul is saying to Timothy and to us,
we should not walk by our soul, by our
feelings, but by our mind,
by our spirit ,and by faith in the Word
of God.
When we do the things of God by how we
feel,
our soul is dominating our spirit and
our mind,
and this is the picture of Adam listening
to Eve.
If those in charge of the church,
are walking by how they feel (soul,
Eve),
they have missed the spiritual lesson,
of what Paul is saying to Timothy
an individual.
Be sure the emotions of your soul (Eve,
woman),
are in subjection to the spirit of your
mind (Adam, man),
and you are walking by faith in the Word
of God,
or you have missed the lesson that Paul
wrote to Timothy.
