| Well, I got my test results back yesterday, and let me just say I'm bummed! Good news is that the lumps in my breasts are just fibroids, which is what I suspected. The bad news is that my thyroid is fine, yes that is bad because now I know I'm fat because I'm just fat and that it's going to be a bitch to lose all this weight! The doctor said to just keep doing what I'm doing, screw her! The other bad news ,and the one that really shocked me, is that my cholesterol is high! I would have never guessed that. Not with all the oatmeal I eat and the extreme low fat way I eat. My total cholesterol is 217 which isn't too bad, 200 being the highest it should be. My good cholesterol is good at 42 and my bad cholesteol is bad at 145, should be no higher than 130. It puts me in the borderline high category. My trig. are 148, good again. So if it wasn't for that damn LDL I'd be sitting pretty. The doctors orders were for me to lower my fat grams even further, again, screw her! I can't possibly go any lower. I say that I don't eat more than 30 grams of fat per day, but that's just the ceiling. I rarely go past 20 grams of fat and I'm not going any lower than that. From what I've read about high cholesterol, heredity, stress and being fat are all factors in a high reading. Here's what they say to do; quit smoking (did that), low fat diet (do that), limit red meat (do that, hate red meat), limit egg yolks (don't eat eggs, unless to cook, then I only use whites), lose weight (trying, HELLO!), exercise, at least 30 minutes of cardio at least 5 days per week (do that), drink skim milk instead of whole (always have drank skim). I don't know what more I could possibly do. So, I'm not doing anything more and in a year I'm going to have it tested again; I'll bet you it's lower! I shudder to think what it would have been a year ago, DAMN! All I ate was fat with a side order a fat and a little fat to drink with that, LOL. No kidding though. I also smoked up to 3 packs of cigs a day until I got pregnant with baby. Then when he was 3 months old I started up again and quit for hopefully the last time in January. So, I am way healthier now than I have been since I was a kid. Oh, I am doing something a little different due to all this cholesterol nonsense, I decided to do 40 minutes of cardio instead of 30, and that will be my only change!! Oh, also I went to Wal-Mart earlier after researching cholesterol (nightmare) anyway I found quite a few references to soy protein and how that can help lower your cholesterol amongst other healthful things. So, I bought some SlimFast with Soy Protein. Now, don't misunderstand me, I am not following the SlimFast diet (that's a bunch of hooey) but I am using the soy product in ADDITION to what I eat a day, not INSTEAD of what I eat a day. It's chocolate and it don't taste too damn bad other than I think it's too sweet. I was going to get a soy protein powder from the pharmacy but ounce for ounce the SlimFast was a better deal and I figured it would taste better. I hope that my doctor would appove of that. She made me stop taking that Estroven stuff (because of all my lumps and bumps) and since it contained soy, I'm wondering if this SlimFast will make me more fibroid-y? Who knows, it's supposed to be good for you and I need more protein and I don't think I could have any more fibroids than I already do. So, I'm going for it. In summary using my doctors own words, "In summary, all tests were normal. Just continue with good low fat low calorie diet and exercise." WHATEVER!!! At least nothing horrible showed up. That would have been really bad, so I better just appreciate my good health and can the bitching, what'cha think? ~Later |
