Rules - How To Play

Rules of Entry
�FGP2009� is open to all members of IS and members of other companies permanently employed �on-site�, Close family members may also take part, as well as invited players such as ex-members of staff, etc.

  • The fee for this year�s season is �15.00 per team � this covers all 17 races
  • All entries must be received by Thursday 12 March latest.
  • The first race is in Australia on Sunday 29 March.
  • All entries must be submitted via the Entry Form supplied. One entry form per team.
  • All fees must be paid prior to the first race of the season. Cheques payable to �Kevin Staden�.
  • There is no limit to the amount of teams a player may submit
  • All entries should be sent to Kevin Staden.

Teams are made from �elements� :
A Driver is an element, a Constructor is an element.

  • You are allotted �40-Million for your Race Team (2 Drivers/2 Constructors)
  • You are allotted �20-Million for your Transfer Team (3 Elements)
  • A Complete team is made as follows:
    • Race Team: TWO Drivers and TWO Cars (Constructors)
      • Each Driver in the Race Team is placed in a car from the Race Team
    • Transfer Team: THREE elements
      • This Can be 3 Drivers, or 3 Cars, or 2 Drivers and 1 Car, or 1 Driver and 2 Cars (See also: Transfers)
      • It makes no difference which order these 3 are noted.
    • Bonus Race: Each player names one race in the season that they will receive double points for within the championship. (See also: Bonus Race Score)
  • Teams are selected from the Driver and Car Price List.

About Teams - Important Info

  • A Race Team may only contain only ONE element from a real F1 Team at all times - Including After Transfers.
  • Your Transfer Team may contain several elements from a real F1 team, but be aware of the above rule.
  • For every team entered, each player must supply TWO alternative choices.
  • At the start of the season the combination of players �Race Teams� together with their highest priced Transfer element must be unique. However Drivers that are placed in opposite Cars within the Race Team to another team will be considered unique.
  • Where identical teams are submitted players will be randomly selected, the �loser� getting their alternative team choice (The FGP Manager's decision is final).
  • Each team should be given a Team Name.
  • A complete list of all teams will be published before the first race.

Honda: The Honda motor company have officially pulled out of F1. However the Honda F1 Team intend to compete subject to them finding a buyer before the start of the season. Further advice will be issued.

Point Scoring

All points are worked out by the FGP Manager and then presented to players via this site as a Word document after the race. Previous players should note that minor changes have been made to this years points system.

Note: Points are scored by your Race Team (2 drivers/2 Constructors)

Qualifying
Points will be awarded for Qualifying as follows :

These points are scored by all drivers, and the best placed car of each Constructor.
Note: For clarification, the qualifying position will be the position that Drivers/Cars occupy on the grid after all penalties have been applied (i.e: Engine Change, FIA enquiries, etc) on the day of the race.

Race Points (End of Race)
Points are awarded to Drivers and Cars at the end of the race depending on what position they finish in. Both cars of a Constructor will score points for their respective positions. If a Driver or Car does not finish the race, they do not receive these points.

Improvement Points

Drivers will get 5 points per place made up in the race - Up to a maximum of 50 points. Therefore if a driver starts from 10th and finishes 4th he will receive 30 improvement.

The best finishing car of a Constructor will score 5 points per place made up against that Constructor�s best start position - Up to a maximum of 50 points.

  • For example: if a team qualified 5th and 10th on the grid and those cars finished in 3rd and 6th then the best finishing car would score 10 points. (i.e. The highest starter�s position is deducted from the highest finisher�s position and (if the result is positive) multiplied by 5 to a maximum of 50)

Fastest Lap Points
The Driver and the Constructor that achieves the Fastest Lap of the race are awarded 25 points each.

Car and Driver Bonus Points
If one or your teams Car and Driver combination finishes then 15 points will be scored. If both Car and Driver combinations finish then 40 points will be scored.

The FIA, Classified Result, Bans - etc

FIA Classified Result and Amendments

  • A Driver/Car that does not finish within the last few laps will often be classified within the official FIA result. Under such circumstances the finish position in FGP will equal that of the FIA Classified Result.
  • The FGP result will be based upon that of the race, together with any amendments that may be imposed up to Friday Midnight before the next race (Last Race: Midnight after the race).
  • Appeals and any F1 sanctions, points penalties etc, after the above time/date will have no effect on FGP (Subject to below).

Banned Drivers/Teams and Replacements

  • If a driver is replaced, injured or does not race for any other reason, other than a ban imposed by the FIA, then any FGP team that has that driver will automatically get his replacement (Including Transfer Team Drivers).
  • If a driver is banned, the F1 team will most likely replace him with another driver. FGP teams will get that other drivers points. They may, if desired and within the period, transfer him out (subject to transfer rules).
  • If a Constructor is banned then no points will be scored for that constructor in FGP teams. Obviously the drivers of that constructor will also be affected. FGP players may, if desired and within the period, transfer cars and drivers (subject to transfer rules).
  • In the unlikely circumstance (!) that a Constructor (or Driver) is banned but continues to race, the FGP will not be affected by such a ban and Constructors (and Drivers) will still score all FGP points.
  • If a real team does not compete in any number of races for any reason other than a ban, or withdraws from Formula One then the FGP teams that include that team will not get replacements. However, under such circumstances you may transfer the cars and drivers if the transfer window is open. If not open you must wait. If the transfer window has passed, then no drivers/cars may be changed.
  • If a driver transfers mid-season to another F1 team you will still get his points, not those of his replacement at his old team.

Bonus Race and Transfers

Bonus Race Score
Ahead of the season�s start each player selects one race that will be their �Bonus Race�. For this race the team will score double points within the Championship. The points will be allotted along with other points at the time of the race.

  • The bonus points are not included within the race�s result score.
  • The Championship table will indicate which teams have scored their Bonus points when published.

Transfers and �Fees�

  • You may make transfers After Race 7, and then until Before Race 15.
  • You may transfer only ONE element (Driver/Car) per race from your Transfer Team into your Race Team.
  • Within the Transfer Window You may also move drivers between cars in your Main Team. (If you do this, you may not make a transfer for the same race)
  • Each Transfer or Move within your team will cost 150 FGP Championship Points (points will be deducted from your accumulated Championship Points, not Race Points)
  • The �Fee� points will be deducted from the Championship immediately after the first race the transfer takes place.
  • There is no limit as to how many transfers/moves you make in your team (providing you have the points to pay for them!).
  • The rule regarding only ONE element from a real F1 team must still be observed when transfers are made within your Race Team.
  • Once a Transfer/Move is made, the driver/car must stay in that position for at least one race.
  • The FGP Manager must be notified of transfers/moves by email and by the Thursday before the race.
  • Transfers will come into effect the race after notification.
  • Once players transfer in Drivers and Cars it is recognised that some teams may be identical. As different points will have previously been scored the end of season scores should not be equal.
  • After transfers, Race Team values may exceed �40-Million.

Results, Prizes and Management

Results
The results of each race will be published on this site Results will usually be issued shortly after the race, although may be later from time to time.

Prize Money, etc
Once all teams are entered the Cash Prize amounts will be published. The Championship Winner will also receive a Trophy (FGP Managers choice).
All prize money (Races and Championship) will be paid to winners at the end of the season.

Management, Queries and Disputes (The Small Print!)

  • FGP is run by Kevin Staden.
  • All money is held in a bank account set up exclusively for the FGP.
  • The FGP results will be calculated using an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Results will be taken from the FIA Official Internet Site.
  • Any queries regards FGP results, etc should be taken up with Kevin Staden by email in the first instance. Please check carefully, and check the wording of this year�s rules. I will attempt to resolve all disputes within a 24-hour period, and if required, republish the revised result.
  • I reserve the right not to amend a result if disputed after the next race has taken place.
  • Anything not covered in the rules above shall be left to the FGP Manager�s discretion, and if required, additional covering rules will be introduced.
  • The FGP Manager�s decision on all matters is final.
