Last Resort-Chapter 2
By:Daisy
The next morning, Magdalena woke up hoping that last night was a dream. She got out of bed, and tripped over her suitcases. She looked down and saw a piece of paper that stated:

Maggie,

I asked Nicole to bring your things to my place.I was indeed serious about last night. I want you to staywith me. Nicole doesn't mind, and she even said it would bebetter if you stayed with me for a while.

Listen I'm at the studio, working on a few things. I should be home later on. Make yourself at home. I'll call you later on.

Love,
Kevin.

Magdalena then decided to take a shower, and changed into a pair of baggy jeans and a white t-shirt. She tried to cover up her cut from last night, by making her hair cover part of her face. She looked in the mirror, and cringed at her appearance. She then decided to tour Kevin's house for a
while. She loved how well designed his place was. It really reflected his personal style. Kevin was thy type of guy that liked things to be classy, but not over the top. He liked to keep things clean and really simple. She loved how everything was well designed. She knew Kevin had great taste, but
it was beyond her imagination that Kevin lived his well. After touring the house for a while, Magdalena decided to go outside. But just before she went into the back yard, she heard the phone ring. She quietly walked into the kitchen and grabbed the small black cordless phone, and walked outside. She sat down on one of the lawn chairs by the pool, and answered the phone. "Hello?" She asked.

"Hey, it's me Nicole!" Nicole happened to be at the bar working a double shift. She decided to check up on Magdalena to see if she was okay. "So how are you? You got pretty banged up last night." Nicole said.

"How did you get this number?"

"Kevin gave it to me. He said it was okay." Nicole said. "So...what's it like in his house?" She asked.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean you're in the house with a Backstreet Boy! What's his house like?" Nicole asked. Magdalena explained that his house was indeed gorgeous, but she saw Kevin as a regular guy. She knew Kevin before his success, and didn't see him as a Backstreet Boy. "But he's one of the gorgeous men alive. I mean you have to be a little psyched about living with him."

"Come on, it's not that exciting. I mean Kevin's just regular to me. We're just friends."

"Whatever. Look I really called you to let you know that your mom wanted to see her tonight."

Magdalena cursed under her breath, because she forgot that she promised her mother she'd see her. Magdalena's mother lived maybe twenty minutes away from where Nicole lived. Magdalena tried to think of an excuse to cancel but she couldn't. As Magdalena was on the phone, Kevin slowly crept outside. He noticed that she was on the phone talking, and he slowly walked over, without Magdalena noticing. "What time does she want me over there?" Magdalena was asking Nicole. Nicole said Magdalena's mother wanted her to come for dinner around seven. Magdalena looked at her watch and noticed it was four. As soon as Magdalena hung up the phone, Kevin was sitting next to her, smiling. Magdalena jumped. "God, you scared me." She said softly while holding onto her chest. Kevin only chuckled and apologized. He was curious about her phone call and began to ask questions. "Oh, Nicole called to check up on me. And she told me my mom was asking about me." Magdalena said.

"Oh, how is she? I haven't seen her in forever." Kevin said. His face lit up just hearing about Magdalena's mother, Rain. Rain seemed to be very found of Kevin when he was dating Magdalena. Magdalena told Kevin that Rain wanted to see Magdalena for dinner at seven. "You want me to give you a ride? I mean I would love to see her." Magdalena was surprised to hear that Kevin
wanted to tag along. "So how about we leave around six?" Kevin asked. Magdalena agreed, and Kevin kissed her on the cheek. They both walked inside, and Kevin said he was going to take a nap and asked Magdalena to wake him up around five thirty. While Kevin was in his bedroom, sleeping, Magdalena decided to go back outside and sit by the pool for a while.

Eventually six o' clock came, and Magdalena walked downstairs. She was gracefully dressed in a long black strapless dress with a black sweater to match. Kevin was waiting downstairs, dressed casually in a nice black suit. "You didn't have to dress up. We're only going to see my mom." Magdalena said as she walked downstairs. Kevin smiled because he thought Magdalena looked incredibly stunning. Magdalena noticed Kevin smiling "what's with the grin? Are one of my boobs hanging out or something?" Magdalena asked. Kevin said he loved how she looked and moved the hair away from her face. Magdalena stared into Kevin's eyes, and began to melt away. She always loved looking into his eyes, because it made her feel like she was the most beautiful woman in the world. But she tried not to fall in love with him again. She knew Kevin didn't have time to be with her romantically, so she would settle for his friendship. "Um, let's get going. I don't want us to be
late." She said, as she walked away from Kevin. Kevin followed her out the door and both of them drove to Rain's house.

Forty-five minutes later, they arrived at Rain's house. As they walked to the door, Magdalena felt like backing out. Kevin held her hand, and assured her that the dinner was going to run smoothly. Magdalena rang the doorbell, and her mother, Rain answered "Maggie, you're early? Oh my goodness, you brought Kevin with you.  Kevin you grew your hair out!" Kevin only smiled
and kissed Rain on the cheek. Everyone walked inside, cheerfully, and walked to a table with an Italian meal. Magdalena and Kevin sat next to each other, while Rain sat in front of them. Rain always liked Kevin. She liked how he was an ambitious man that had direction in his life. She thought that Magdalena was going to marry Kevin, actually. And when she saw the two back
together, she thought they might get married. "So Kevin how's your career? I heard you're releasing a new album." Rain asked Kevin.

"Yes ma'am I am. I'm currently in the studio working on it and in a few months the group and myself will go on a promotional tour." Kevin responded stoically. Magdalena smiled on how Rain and Kevin were interacting. She loved how Kevin seemed to be really friendly towards her mother.

"So Kevin are you single? Engaged?" Rain asked. Rain didn't want to go through a lot of nonsense. She wanted to get straight to the point to see if she could help Magdalena out. "I mean I hear you're living with my daughter, and I want to know the relationship between you two."

"Mom! Kevin and I are just friends. We're not back together." Magdalena said quickly. Kevin looked at Magdalena and grinned.

"Yeah, although your daughter is incredibly beautiful and perfect, We are strictly friends. Nothing more, nothing less." Kevin said, slightly putting his hand on Magdalena's thigh. Magdalena sort of smiled, and thought about the last time Kevin put his hand on her thigh. They were at a carnival, on a Ferris wheel. Kevin was trying to comfort Magdalena because she was scared of heights. It was the place where they shared their first kiss. Kevin noticed Magdalena looking off into space, and tapped her shoulder. "Maggie, you okay?" He asked, removing his hand.

"Yeah, I was just thinking about something. Um...mom, can I help you with the dishes?" Magdalena asked. She quickly got up, and picked up hers and Kevin's plates. Rain quickly followed Magdalena into the kitchen, and both of them washed dishes. Rain noticed her daughter was troubled about something, and asked what was wrong. "It's nothing. I was just thinking about something that happened."

"You're not thinking about that son of a bitch Nathan? Are you?" Rain asked.

"God no!  I don't ever want to think of that bastard again. Mom..." Magdalena began to say, right before looking her mom in the eye, "He tried to kill me last night."

"He what?"

"He tried to kill me while I was leaving for work. But Kevin scared him off. Kevin saved my life, Mom."

"He's a good man, Maggie. He's a really good man. He's marriage material...."

"Mom, Kevin and I are not getting back together. He doesn't want me. I'm damaged goods. He probably pities me, and that's probably the only reason why he wants me to live with him."

Rain grabbed her daughter's shoulders, and looked into her eyes. "Magdalena, Kevin Richardson is a sweet man. He would never pity you. In fact, I know for a fact that he still loves you. I can see it in his eyes."

"Mom you're crazy." Magdalena said. Magdalena then continued to wash dishes and to think about Kevin. She indeed was still very much attracted to him, yet she knew that they would never be because he wouldn't have time for her. His career didn't allow him to have a relationship with someone. He thought long distance relationships always died in the long run. As Magdalena was
with her mother, Kevin was in the living room looking at some of Rain's photos. He laughed as he saw some of Magdalena's old photos. As he was laughing, Magdalena walked over and saw her embarrassing prom picture that Kevin was looking at. "Oh my god. You are so not looking at that." Magdalena said, while trying to take the photo. Kevin only laughed and tried to continue to look at it. Magdalena only pulled the photo away, and blushed. "Oh my god. Look at my dress. I was so hideous." She said. She then glanced at the photo a final time, then put it back on the bookcase. She noticed how Kevin looked at her, almost like he was trying to read her mind. "What's up with you? You're looking at me like I have something hanging out of my nose." Magdalena said. Kevin then leaned over, and kissed Magdalena on the cheek. "What was that for?" She asked, trying to hold back her blushing.

"Nothing. I can't kiss my friend on the cheek."

"I'm not sure." Magdalena said, while looking at Kevin's watch "God, it's getting late. And I have to work the morning shift tomorrow. You want to leave?"

"Sure. Let me tell your mother good-bye." Kevin said. He then slowly walked into the kitchen and said good-bye to Rain. Rain urged Kevin to visit whenever, because she missed talking to him. Magdalena and Kevin left shortly after, and arrived home around eleven thirty. Magdalena then decided to take a short shower, just before going straight to bed. Kevin only changed out of his clothes, and into his boxers, and sat in bed to watch some television. He sat on his bed and thought about why he broke up with Magdalena. His old management team was against their relationship from the start. They thought Magdalena would distract Kevin from what was important, his fans. They also thought it would be better for Kevin to be single, so his fans could be happy. But since his cousin, Brian, started dating his long time girlfriend Leighanne, and the Management Company was replaced, Kevin was in dire need of a stable relationship. Kevin did date other girls besides Magdalena, but none of the women compared to her. Most of the women were in love with Kevin, the Backstreet Boy. Magdalena knew Kevin before his career was started, and she didn't care if he was loved by millions or just loved by her. She knew that Kevin was a regular guy, and that was something that he missed. Kevin sat in bed and thought about getting back together with Magdalena, but then he thought that she just got of a bad relationship and would need some time to herself.

As Kevin thought more and more about Magdalena, the more he realized he still had some unresolved feelings for her. A few minutes later, Magdalena walked in and sat down next to him. She was dressed in some dark blue pajamas, with her hair up in pigtails. Kevin loved when her hair was up like that. It seemed to make his heart get warm. She then made him aware that she was going to bed. Kevin then asked if he should tuck her in. "No, I'll be all right for tonight. Listen thanks for coming with me to see mom. She really seemed excited to see you." Magdalena said. She then kissed Kevin quickly on the lips, and walked to the guest bedroom. She crawled into bed,
and thought more about Kevin. She felt the attraction towards him, and sighed. She tried hard to fight the fact that her feelings for him were beginning to resurface. She didn't want to set herself up for heartbreak again. She tried not to think about him anymore, and went to sleep. Quickly
after Magdalena fell asleep, she began to have a nightmare about Nathan. It was back at her old apartment, and Nathan was beating her. He was picking her up and slamming her on the walls repeatedly. Every time Magdalena was thrown, Magdalena gasped and yelled. Then suddenly Nathan pulled out a knife, and stabbed her in her stomach. Magdalena, instantly, woke up and
screamed at the top of her lungs. Kevin ran in and saw Magdalena was crying and shaking. "He tried to kill me." Magdalena said softly, trying to hold her tears back. "He stabbed me..." Magdalena said, while pointing to her stomach. Kevin only grabbed Magdalena and carried her into his bedroom. Both of them crawled into his bed, and he wrapped his arms around Magdalena.
Magdalena stopped crying, but was still shaking.

Kevin leaned over, and whispered in Magdalena's ear. "Maggie, he's not going to come near you again. He'll have to go through me, before I allow him to hurt you."

"How can you guarantee that?"

"Because I would never leave your side. I'm always going to be here for you." He said, as he kissed one of Magdalena's shoulders. "Come on, we both have to go to work tomorrow. So let's try to get some sleep!" He said, before they both closed their eyes, and went to sleep.
