| It was Friday night, around midnight, at a small club called The Hammer. A beautiful bartender by the name of Magdalena was hard at work. She was annoyed by noisy and busy environment she was working in. All the busy customers were being rude to her, and one guy even spilled his beer all over her. Finally Magdalena snapped at broke three bottles of gin. Her co.-worker, roommate, and best friend, Nicole, finally walked over and told her to go in the bathroom to wash off. Magdalena groaned and stormed in the bathroom. Magdalena splashed some water on her face, and took a deep breath. She glanced in the mirror and saw the minor cuts above her eyebrow. She then began to look harder into the mirror and she began to think about the terrible fight she got into with her ex boyfriend, Nathan. She remembers how Nathan threatened to slit her throat. She began to think about the three years that he abused her. She began to think of the two miscarriages she had all the black eyes, and the bruises. She was finally happy when she moved out. Magdalena then took her long light brown hair, out of her restricted bun, and let it flow down her back. She sighed and decided to get back to work. As she preparing to walk out of the door, she accidentally ran into someone. As she was lying on the ground, she noticed a tall, handsome man standing before her. His gorgeous green eyes looked into hers, and made her smile. The green eyes seemed very familiar to her, because she only knew one other man that had the same green eyes. But the man she saw looked totally different than the one she had in mine. He had long dark hair, and was dressed in entirely black. Magdalena prepared to say something, when the guy helped her up. He apologized, and glanced at Magdalena again. "Maggie?" The guy asked. Magdalena looked puzzled because the guy knew her name. She then looked at the man one final time, and moved his hair away from his face. "Kevin? Oh my god!" Magdalena exclaimed. "What are you doing here?" "I'm out with a few friends. What are you doing here? And in that outfit?" Kevin asked, noticing that Magdalena was dressed in a revealing black shirt, with tight black leather pants. Magdalena blushed and revealed that she was working at the club as a bartender, and needed to get back to work. Magdalena and Kevin both walked back to the bar, and Magdalena jumped over to the other side and put her apron back on. Kevin then ordered a gin and tonic, and started a conversation with Magdalena. Kevin mainly talked about how tough it's been with touring and everything, and he eventually brought up the personal relationship between him and Magdalena. When Kevin first joined Backstreet Boys, he met Magdalena through a mutual friend. The two dated off and one for a year and a half, but then broke up because Kevin's schedule became busier, and his management company didn't allow him to have much of a personal life. Magdalena became upset of course over the break up, and ended up with Nathan. Kevin dated around with other girls, but could never establish a solid relationship with any of them. He only felt serious about Magdalena, but knew his career didn't allow himself to be with her. Magdalena gave Kevin a refill on his drink and asked him "so you still hiding you girlfriends from the public?". Kevin winced at the tone of Magdalena's question and told her that he has more control of his career and personal life. "Oh, so are you still dating that Italian model?" Magdalena asked. She sort of kept up with the Backstreet Boys, and their careers. She'd been to a few of their concerts and went to a couple of meet and greets with her niece, but she never was an obsessed fan. "Oh you're talking about Fallon? That was over months ago. And we weren't dating exactly.... We just sort of...." Before Kevin could finish, Magdalena automatically assumed that they had a sexual relationship. Magdalena was a little jealous the way Kevin answered, but she quickly got over it. "So what about you? How's your love life been? I heard you were engaged..." "Actually I was engaged, but we broke it off." Magdalena said. "Oh what happened?" Kevin asked, holding one of Magdalena's hands. Magdalena smiled and looked down, and before she could answer Nicole tapped her shoulder. "Sorry to interrupt, but I just saw Nathan!" She told Magdalena. Magdalena gasped and immediately took off her apron. "It looks like he was headed for here, so you might want to get out of here now!" "Wait, what's going on?" Kevin asked. He didn't get an answer from either one of the girls, but then saw Magdalena grab her purse and jump over the bar. "Maggie, wait!" Kevin yelled as he watched her run out of the club. Magdalena tried to make a quick dash to her car, when she felt someone push her against her car window. "You fucking bitch! Thought you could break away from me!" Nathan said as he turned Magdalena around and slapped her. Magdalena screamed, and tried to get away. Nathan only punched Magdalena in her stomach, and slammed her against her car. Magdalena screamed again, yelling for help. Nathan only punched Magdalena again and yelled "Shut up you stupid bitch." Inside, Kevin told the rest of the Backstreet Boys he was going to get something from his car. Kevin immediately ran outside and saw the assault that was happening. Nathan grabbed Magdalena by her hair and threw her across her car. He was about to hit Magdalena in her stomach again, when Kevin grabbed his hand. "What the fuck?" Nathan exclaimed as he turned around and saw Kevin. Kevin then slammed Nathan on the ground, making Nathan run off. Magdalena was on the ground, her forehead was bleeding, and her body ached. She trembled and cried. Kevin ran over and picked her up in his arms. Kevin felt Magdalena shake as he carried her in through the back doors of the club. "Everything's going to be okay. I'm here okay." He said softly trying to make Magdalena stop shaking. Kevin carried Magdalena in a back room, and made her lay down on a small black couch. Nicole immediately ran back. She screamed and asked what happened. "I walked outside to see why Maggie ran off, and then I saw this jerk hitting her. Luckily I scared him off." Kevin said. "You're lucky; you're not dead. He's crazy!" Nicole said. She then ran to a cabinet and grabbed a first aid kit. She noticed that Magdalena was bleeding and nursed her cut. "Sweetie, can you talk?" She asked Magdalena softly. Magdalena only mumbled and passed out. Nicole started to cry, and dropped the kit. Kevin walked over, and gave Nicole a hug. "Hey, don't fall apart okay. Look I can take care of Magdalena for the night. Just don't fall apart okay." Kevin said as he hugged Nicole. Nicole stopped crying and agreed. Kevin then wrapped Magdalena in his leather trench coat and carried her into his truck. He quietly drove home, with no radio on, and thought about how bad Magdalena's life was. He assumed the guy in the parking lot was an ex boyfriend of Magdalena, and he felt guilty about leaving her so she'd end up with Nathan. Thirty minutes later, Kevin arrived home in his peaceful house. He carried Magdalena in, and carried her upstairs in his bedroom. He lied her down, and cut on a light. He caressed the side of her cheek, and groaned. The way Magdalena looked made Kevin's heart ache. He felt guilty about what happened to her, but was glad he saved her life. Moments after, Magdalena woke up and mumbled. She opened her eyes, and saw Kevin looking down at her. She then tried to get up, but felt dizzy and fell back down. Kevin rubbed Magdalena's forehead, and said softly "Just lie down Maggie. Everything's okay now." "Where am I?" "Um, you're at my place. I saw you in the parking lot, and you got pretty beat up." Kevin said. Magdalena then began to cry, and Kevin lifted her up and held her in his arms. "Come on, it's okay. Don't fall apart. I'm going to take care of you now." Kevin said. Magdalena only trembled because she was embarrassed that Kevin saw what happened to her. Magdalena felt like she wasn't the strong woman Kevin was involved with years ago. Kevin held Magdalena for a good ten minutes, and finally whispered in her ear "Listen I want you to stay here for a while. I mean I know it's kind of sudden, but I want you here. So.... How about you take a shower to calm down and clear your mind." Magdalena agreed, and Kevin helped her to the bathroom. Magdalena took a long shower and began to think about how shitty her life was. She used to be ambitious and knew what she wanted in life, but when she met Nathan she turned into a vulnerable woman that had no direction in her life. As she got out of the shower, and wrapped herself in a towel, she sat down and began to cry. Kevin was in his bedroom, changed for bed, and he wondered about Magdalena. He thought heavily on what he lost, and wanted her in his life. He felt like he needed to take care of her somehow, and couldn't let her go. Kevin got up and walked into the bathroom, he saw Magdalena crying and hugged her. "Maggie, it's okay. Everything's okay." He said, as he kissed the top of her head. Magdalena smiled and her tears suddenly stopped. Kevin then escorted Magdalena into one of his guestrooms and gave her a pair of his boxers and an old shirt. He politely left the room and allowed her to change. After that, he tucked Magdalena in her bed and kissed her forehead. He then prepared to leave, when Magdalena grabbed his arm. "Kevin, wait!" Magdalena said softly. She looked at him like she needed his security. "I know this is incredibly silly, but can you.... Stay with me in here tonight." Kevin then crawled in the bed, and lay down next to her. He wrapped his arms around Magdalena and sighed. Magdalena felt really safe with Kevin. He seemed to be the stability she needed in her life. Kevin then began to softly sing "More than that" in Magdalena's ear, and allowed her sleep. |
