| Here is the man who brought blues back into public interest in America during the mid to late 80's and early 90's. He is one of my personal favorites because I've always loved the blues. It's one of the first musical genres that I discovered on my own and fell in love with. And I have to agree that it is true what people say about SRV - "He plays like he pours his heart into every note." When you hear this guy play, it will astound and amaze you (not to mention make you have a little respect for the blues). SRV was a monster onstage doing things like playing behind his back, his head, and retuning his guitar in the middle of a solo. And he did it all with a unique flair that can only be done by SRV. His songs really rocked the house as well as showed that blues still had what it started out with: great music. He was a student of Hendrix, which is pretty dope, and he did a couple covers such as "Voodoo Child: Slight Return" and "Little Wing." Then, at the height of being recognized as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, he died in a helicopter crash. The Texan-born bluesman was killed during a trip from one show to the next. It was truly a sad day. If you haven't heard this guy play yet, download some of his stuff or check out a CD or something. It's truly something you'll remember. |
