Eddie Van Halen
There he is, my favorite 80's rock guitarist.  Eddie Van Halen is not only known for being an awesome showman and musician but for being an innovator as well.  Not only has he created such timeless musical pieces as "Panama" and "Why Can't This Be Love," but he has also created his own sound.  The unique blend of effects that Ed puts his guitar through has been affectionately referred to as "The Brown Sound."  I like Ed for his ability to create, time and time again, catchy melodies along with soaring guitar leads.  Even though Van Halen might be on hiatus, Eddie has probably got millions of ideas floating through his head just waiting to be put down on tape at his 5150 studios.  And that's why I admire him.  I admire him because even though things may look down for him and the band, he is still a true musician looking for the next great song.
On the left, Ed flies through the air (something his hip probably wouldn't let him do now) with reckless abandon while rocking out in true Van Halen fashion.
Ed's style of playing is truly "in your face" rock and roll.  Look at this guy... he is the quintessential rock star!  haha
Many of the innovations Ed brought to the world of rock guitar were truly rad (to use 80s lingo). However,  finger tapping (as seen on the right) was the most popular.
