The Greywolf class Battle Cruiser was designed and built expressly for the mercenary group Wolf's Dragoons. In 3055 following the Dragoon Civil War that ravaged Outreach, Jaime Wolf began restarting the Dragoons as an even greater organization then it had been. One of these moves was to upgrade the already significant naval assets of the Dragoons. While numerous the majority of the ships in service to the Dragoons were below destroy in class and size, only a single Sovetskii Soyuz serving as a command vessel. Jaime Wolf approached Jez Rictheron of the Sons of the Dragon R&D about production of a new vessel for his forces. This was an initially odd request as they had never so much as produced a dropship before hand.
Jez Rictheron immediatly hired a slew of designers from across the Inner Sphere and acquanted them with the latest technology of the Inner Sphere and technology files given by the Dragoons. The unit surpassed all expectations, completing a preliminary design and virtual reality tests in just over a year. Jaime returned in early 3058 expecting to be offered blueprints and was instead treated to a holo displaying the already layed keel of the first Greywolf, the WDBC <i>Justin Allard</i>. Wolf was so surprised that he immediately offered an additional 5% over the original agreed price in thanks. That amazing bonus allowed Rictheron to found the corporation Iron Wings Naval Assets.
At current the Dragon's Teeth's relatively small navy is commanded by the Greywolf class Hal Hin Chou, named after their fallen comrade of the 4th Succession War.
At 950,000 the Greywolf fits solidly into the Battlecruiser category bearing a powerful blend of armor, speed, and weaponry. Possibly the greatest advantage of the Greywolf is its powerful wing of fighters, surpassing in number all but dedicated carriers. In addition the Greywolf was designed to carry the co-designed Predator assault dropship, a vessel made to supplant the aging Vengence design. When fully fitted, the Grey wolf carries fighters to match the Thera.
The ability to pull a solid 2 G's of acceleration is not uncommon amoung battlecruisers but it is still a large advantage for a vessel of this size, paired with its well above average armor makes the Greywolf nigh impossible to destroy. Should any enemy try they much face the overwhelming firepower of its array of Heavy PPC's, NAC/30's, and Medium Gauss Cannons. Extensive testing and use have shown the three weapon systems as amoung the best to be had in the naval battlefield. Linked together the firepower is terrible enough to threaten vessels twice the size of the Greywolf.
