Overview:
'Catscratch' is the loving name given to this rebuilt panther by Solaris gladiator Kobayashi Hayato. Hayato discovered the Panther in a Kuritan junkpile, its right arm ripped off completely (likely the cause of its abandonment.) He purchased the unit but was unable to locate a replacement for the Lord Light PPC anywhere on Solaris.
With the cost to import a new one from Combine space proving prohibitive he decided to install a more available SRM6 into the wrist. Not wanting to be stuck in a missile boat, Hayato stripped out the SRM4 for a quadrangle array of paired medium lasers and machine guns, hidden behind the cover sheet of the SRM4. With an aluminum cylinder wrapped around his SRM6 launcher most opponents could not realize that his Panther was anything but a stock version, allowing him a certain amount of deception.
Despite the drawbacks expected with such a slapdash creation, Hayato was able to garner a winning streak on the light circuit that any veteran would be proud of. His tactical and combat skills were good enough to earn him the rank of Lieutenant and command of the recon lance when the Dragons Teeth mercenary group was created. Hayato served with honor for many years in that role, until he retired in 3040 with the rank of Major. Catscratch currently resides in the main hall for the Sons of the Dragon R&D office alongside its companions, maintained in pristine condition with its custom paintjob, a green camo with 4 red claw marks streaking across the torso.
