Overview
The Bahamut ISC is a specialty unit designed for the commanding officer of the Dragon's Teeth Mercenary Division, as of 3065. Jance Jenius served as Regimental commander of the Dragon's Teeth 1st Regiment during the outset of the Clan War, serving in his prized Bahamut. Despite his upgrades the unit was no match for the deadly Clan war machine. Bahamut was nearly lost, the damage was so severe that it was over a year after the Battle of Luthien before Bahamut could take the field again.
Jance upgraded Bahamut in late 3059, based heavily on their newly released Cerberus modification, the Charon, however despite its outstanding power, it was found lacking in its ability to command his unit to the degree modern electronic devices allowed. Jance felt strongly against stripping down the dreaded firepower of his mech to load it with a C3 Computer which seemed his only option.
His answer came in 3061 hen sharing a meal with Jaime Wolf on Outreach. During the meal General Mauve Wolf approached them to discuss modifications to the Loki piloted by Brian Cameron, intended to further improve its command abilities. The thought intrigued Jance and further discussion with Jaime over the benefits of dedicated communications officer convinced him of its benefit.
Jance returned to the drawing board, personally planning out his new mech. Close connections with Dragoons could provide limited access to Clan tech and Jance took that into account, along with availability in the field.
The Bahamut ISC entered the combat arena in 3065 and has proven itself more then capable, and a true surprise to any enemy it may face.
Capabilities:
The Bahamut ISC is not a true Omnimech in the generally considered sense. Its components are not modular, but rather it has specific slots designed to accomodate specific devices, however these devices can be quickly removed. Alternate pieces can not be inserted in their place, they are simply left empty and covered by armored plating. This design allows the Bahamut ISC to alter itself for specific missions as well as quickly replace any of the components damaged in battle.
The Standard Bahamut ISC Battlemaster is 85 tons, 16 of which is pure armor. Capable of speeds up to 64.8 kph and jumps up to 60 meters it is one of the most mobile Assault mechs ever designed. Fixed weaponry for the unit included the powerful Zeus Slingshot Gauss Rifle and a pair of rear facing Magna Starglow Light Lasers. A Double Heatsink mounted in the left arm and TSM built throughout the mech made it capable of not only dealing with but benefiting from any heat it built up.
Variable components consisted of 4 ports for Medium Lasers, 2 Pulse and 2 Standard or ER. A single slot in the left arm was specially geared to accomodate the powerful Clan ER PPC, while an empty port in the left torso could accomodate a newly designed NAIS targetting computer.
Between the PPC, the Targetting Computer, and the 4 Lasers the Bahamut ISC can equip any pairing of the three groups at any time. Jance typically prefers the use of the ER PPC and Medium Lasers to provide outstanding destructive power, though the sniping ability of the ER PPC and Targetting Computer paired with the devestating Gauss Rifle is almost as heavily favored.
