Her mother was a ruler who had no time for her, the other senshi had to do their jobs, and the only person who looked out for her was locked in the Gates of Time. The other children called her a bastard ("I bet you're not the queen's real daughter! You're a fake!") She couldn't age- how many of us wanted to be six "forever" as we would have seen it- and she had no powers. Her mother was the stereotypical beauty, and a moonlight-mage to boot, while she was just...Rini.
I pity her.
She has a lot of good points: she was the only person who attempted to be kind to Hotaru, she was loyal after giving her friendship, and often she firms up her mouth with spoiled princess determination and does what needs to be done. She is very artistically bent, and seems to have a lot of skill in that direction. Yes, she is horrible to Usagi, but they pull through for each other when necessary. And Usagi herself is no angel towards Rini.
And to her Electra complex: she needs an older male to protect her, since she was extremely close to her father, despite the fact that he was always busy. It isn't her father she's interested in, it's a male who closely resembles him and takes an interest in her. We never see her making any moves towards Endymion, just Mamoru. And no, even there, nothing happens beyond a quite understandable crush.
Another reason to pity her.
