A lot of people comment on her mistreatment of those she loves (her best friends, her grandfather, and Kumada), but that is the result of her childhood. Her father left her under the care of various relatives (eventually culminating in Grandpa Hino), preferring to pursue his career in politics. Despite her grandfather's care, she felt that her father didn't love her, so she tries to push everyone she cares about away so that she doesn't become hurt again.
