  These papercuts are telling about an old tale, which was handed down from generation to another for hundreds years.  It still is a very famous story among Chinese children till today.  Once upon a time, the daughter of a mouse king was grown-up for marriage. Her father loved her very much, so he wanted to choose the most powerful lad in the world as her bridegroom. He thought of the Sun, which might be the strongest. But the sun said he was fear of the cloud. so the father asked the cloud if he was fearless in the world, the answer was that the cloud was dread of the wall. When the poor father found the wall, he was disappointed too, because the wall tell him that he was scare of mouse. How could the king of mouse marry his daughter to another little mouse? The father though and thought, suddenly a good idea came into his mind. He remembered that all mice are scared of the cat, so no mice will  look down of his honey daughter if she married a cat. the next day, this little female mouse married that cat. No mice dared to tease her now, indeed, but she became the delicious meal of that cat soon!
