Sweet Baby Love   Kerri Elizabeth Allison
I am a Miracle

This is a poem my wife wrote while she was still pregnant with Kerri
and they were telling us she was going to die.

Sweet Baby Love

You are my baby,
a blessing from above
I’ve carried you and loved you
My sweet baby Love

I’ve dreamed of holding you
and rocking you to sleep
and praying the Lord
your soul to keep

My heart is breaking
for our time together was brief
although I know you’re in heaven
I’m still filled with grief

God has a nursery
He’s made for you with love
You’ll have lots of friends and golden toys
in your new home above

So rock-a-bye baby
in heaven above
May the angels sing lullabies
to my sweet baby love

Written by my younger brother for Kerri 3 days after she was born.

Kerri Elizabeth Allison

You came into this life on March 16th, 1998
and God had a plan from the start He knew you were great.
You didn't know that He was your biggest fan
and that people would be calling about your birth
throughout the land.
Nobody knew what God had in store as we waited and waited
and waited some more.
Once you were born and you took your first breath
Nobody outside knew if you were close to death.
We were all praying for a miracle to happen
Because you were so special to the Dills and the Allisons.
A few hours had passed since your birth
It was already a miracle that you were still with us on earth.
As we looked at you and saw the tears run down your cheek.
You melted our hearts and things weren't looking as bleak.
We knew that could happen since we had seen it before.
Since I'm a miracle myself from Jesus my Lord.
The doctors didn't think that I would live to
but you know what? God knew what to do.
So as this poem is written in honor of you Kerri
Remember God knows the plans He has for you too
and He will be the one that will carry through.
So as you grow up each new day
Remember that we will continue to pray.

Written by my wife in August, 1998

I am a Miracle

I am a miracle,
an angel some might say -
the doctors said I wouldn't make it
but I am here anyway!

You see, I am a messenger
proof that God is real
He wants to share his healing with all of us
if we will just listen and be still.

My body isn't perfect
and I have special needs
but God's grace is sufficient
if we follow where He leads.

Please pray for me and my family
everyday there's a new battle to fight -
But even in the midst of this darkness,
we know JESUS IS THE LIGHT.
