South Carolina

South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs. Assist people with disabilities in meeting their needs, pursuing their individual possibilities and achieving their life goals; and minimize the occurrence and reduce the severity of disabilities through prevention

BabyNet (a program of DHEC) is South Carolina's early intervention program for infants and toddlers with disabilities and delays. As the BabyNet Central Directory, SCSIS serves as the central point of contact for families and agencies involved with these children. Information Specialists talk with parents, families or service providers, assess the situation, and make referrals to the appropriate BabyNet Family Service Coordinator.

Family Connection
is a statewide organization of parents helping parents of children with disabilities, developmental delays, and chronic illnesses. Some of these children have Down syndrome, seizure disorders, cerebral palsy, and heart disease, but help is not limited only to these groups. Family Connection establishes parent networks wherever there is a need.
